Cables

True or false: you can accurately measure the size of the geek by the size of his cable collection?

I would have to say true. I don't have much basis for comparison, but since I've spent three hours organizing cables and still have an hour or two to go, well, yeah…

  1. Hehe, so very true. Every geek has one or more boxes or bags full of various video/audio/computer cables. "You never know when you might need it!"

  2. I would have to agree. I have more invested in my home theater cabling than I did my home theater system. Mmmm, Monster Cable.

  3. You couldn't be more right. I certainly have more cables (in volume) that I have old and unusable computer stuff. And I have a lot of unusable computer stuff, like PCI-IDE card, SCSI CD burner with that huge centronic interface. I even have a collection of old ADB mice and keyboards. Just in case. And you bet, the cables of course. All the cables. Lots of cables. Big boxes of cables. All together without any order. A mess of cables. Must be a geek, somewhat. Yeah.

    Oh my, I'm a geek.

    Noooo, I'm a geek!

  4. yes. I just moved, and I have two boxes that are full of cables. Two whole boxes.

And the funny thing is that half of the cables don't really belong to anything specific, I just have them from whatever they came with that I've probably thrown away by now, but still have the cables for whatever reason...
