Silverlight

{democracy:51}

If your answer is a bit more complex than what's available above, say why in the comments.

I haven't installed it yet - not on my Macs, nor my virtual Windows setups - and don't plan to, either.

  1. Installed it just for Netflix Instant Mac support, and I think that's the thing that I've used it the most for. In fact, I think that the only other content I've watched with it was some of the Democratic National Convention stuff. For me, it seems to rev up my fans less than Flash player (on black MB, 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo) and the content honestly looks better, although this could just be the sources that I have pulled down the content from.

    Of course, most of my Netflix watch now content gets streamed to my PS3 hooked up to the TV, but it's nice to be able to watch the occasional content on my computer.

  2. I've never actually seen a single thing that uses Silverlight. But I might check it out just to compare it to the abysmal performance of Flash on OS X.

  3. I've only installed it for Netflix Instant. If I stop using that, I'll probably uninstall it.

  4. I would install Silverlight for the purpose of trying tafiti, as I read a review and it seems interesting; however, I am using a computer owned by a school, and that which I own does not have a connexion to the Internet. 🙁 P. S. I note that you are using the same icons as Dokuwiki... 🙂

  5. I installed it for Netflix and for some of the Olympics streaming what have you.

  6. I work with Sonic Foundry Mediasite, and it's Mac compatibility relies on Silverlight.

  7. I installed it to watch some video at some point. It works (better than flash) but I might remove it at some point.. just about no sites use it.
