Ugh. The first African American president? And he trumps the first president (of any color, height, weight, etc.) HOW???

Yes, it is. Ostensibly, he'd be the one to pass it, but if that has an impact of the design I'd be highly suspicious.

This won't happen. It's silly to even prognosticate about it. And, yes, the whole concept of these bills is stupid (and, uh, so clearly and singularly liberal) that it would never be accepted.

The vertical format is interesting and they make some good arguments for it.

I disagree. I don't hold my wallet vertically and I don't know anyone else who does. I also don't care for the different sizes: if your money is stacked and you grab the wrong end, you can drop the smaller bills.

I must be strange then. I nearly always deal with my wallet vertically when I have to pull out bills. It's too awkward to hold otherwise. And no, a money clip will not solve this problem because where am I going to put all the other stuff (cards, receipts, etc) that I keep in my wallet?
I agree on the different sizes. For proper handling, bills should all be the same size and differ by fairly prominent denominations and muted colors -- I don't go for wild color differences like some European currencies and this particular redesign but the green of US bills makes them hard to distinguish. Canadian bills are pretty good but I may be biased since I live there. 😉
