Fixing Duplicate iCloud Accounts in Notes

From this Apple discussion forum I fixed a problem that bothered me for weeks: duplicate iCloud accounts (and thus duplicate notes) in Mountain Lion's "Notes" app.

With Notes not running, on any computer that's affected, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes.

That's it.

This issue was making me crazy!

  2. Thank you for the information. Helped me too!

  3. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! Those duplicates have been irritating me for months.

  4. Thanks from me as well!
Just one note, after you delete this folder, you have to go into the notes app and re-check the "notes" option in all the relevant accounts.

This worked for me, and has been annoying me to death!
    thanks 🙂

  5. I've had the same problem, but unfortunately this didn't fix my problem. I still have two iCloud accounts showing up in Notes, one that syncs correctly with iCloud and my devices, and another also labeled iCloud which syncs with nothing.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
