New Eyeglasses

For years I've worn a pair of rimless Silhouette eyeglasses. They were lightweight, flexible, and worked well. I got a pair of sunglasses and a new pair in the same model four years ago, but it was time for a change.

I ended up going with the Oakley Clubface frames. I didn't even know what they were called - I simply liked that they had a little bit of a rim along the top and the color seems to work. I don't do well with very square frames or lenses, so these are round enough to work.

Oakley Clubface

I didn't notice until well afterwards that they were named "Clubface." Perfect for a golf instructor, right? The Oakley site says:

We marveled at the smooth contours of high-end golf sticks when we designed CLUBFACE, a work of C-5™ alloy that hits the sweet spot on original style. All that dimensional curvature creates a fresh look from every angle. UNOBTAINIUM® earsocks maintain a comfortably secure fit, and spring hinges bring precise mechanics to a frame that puts dimension in personality.

You have to get your hands on CLUBFACE to appreciate the art of 3-D thinking. Five metal compounds gave us an alloy that flows into curves and contours without adding excess weight, so you'll have the comfort you deserve and the durability you need. From the dimensional nose bridge to the subtly concave earsocks, we worked every angle to give the active look a new definition.

Uhm, yeah. They're just eyeglasses frames, people.

  1. I picked my optometrist based on which ones in the area sold Silhouette. I'm never gonna give them up. Never gonna put them down. Never gonna run around and desert them...

You might have been the one to tell me about Silhouette years ago. I had two or three pair of them, and still love how light they are, but these aren't heavy, they're just a lot heavier than the 0.2 grams the Silhouettes weigh. 🙂

And this new optometrist also carries Silhouette if I ever want to go back.
