Increased Spam Phone Calls

In the past three days I've received no less than 14 "spammy" phone calls.

I don't answer my cell phone. When I'm at my computer, I quickly search the Web for the number calling me, and lately, a whole lot of them have been showing "800notes.com" or other similar sites as the first, second, third, and fourth links.

I block the caller immediately.

I registered for the Do Not Call Registry in 2003, but checked just now to make sure it hadn't expired or something. I saw they said records do not expire, and my registration is still valid, so I haven't fallen off that list.

I don't know what's going on, though. Did legislation or punishments change or soften?

One Response to "Increased Spam Phone Calls"

  1. Just got another from +1 267 841 8071. The caller asked for Sandra and was from some Education company.

I replied "You have the wrong number, and this one is on the do not call registry. I'll be reporting this."

He said "It takes 24 to 48 hours to update our records" and hung up.
