Three Stages of Truth

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
- Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860)

Amelia Earhart Mystery Solved?

Wow.

Apparently Amelia and her navigator were stranded on a small island for awhile, tried to survive, and ultimately perished.

I wrote a report on Amelia when I was small (fifth grade perhaps?). I wonder if they'l find her bones.

"The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them."

True Measure of a Man

"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good."
- Samuel Johnson (1709-1784)

I could do better at this. A LOT better at this. Unfortunately, I still think most people are stupid, even if they can do me good. 🙂

"I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth."
- Umberto Eco

I liked Dan Benjamin on the show. He and John had a great, unique chemistry together.

I doubt very much I will listen to the new show.

Improved by Death

"He is one of those people who would be enormously improved by death."
- H. H. Munro (Saki) (1870-1916)

So mean. 🙂

How and Hell

These two go together nicely:

"If you are going through hell, keep going."
- Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

"He who has a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'."
- Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900)

Involvement vs. Commitment

"The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."
