Amazon Coins

Amazon Coins: A Terrible Idea For Consumers Like Garrett, I'll pass. And I don't buy anything on the Xbox anymore since they use that stupid Points system.

Trials in iOS Apps

Here's a great solution for App store trials. Get on this, Apple. It is the best solution I've seen yet.

Ooooooooh!

Wine tasting is bullshit. Here's why. This one's one of my favorites. In 2001, researcher Frédéric Brochet invited 54 wine experts to give their opinions on what were ostensibly two glasses of different wine: one red, and one white. In actuality, the two wines were identical, with one exception: the "red" wine had been dyed […]

Peter Belanger

Peter Belanger is the primary product photographer for Apple. Did you know that? Now you do.

I still haven't listened to the Talk Show since they left 5by5, but this snippet from the post announcing one of the episodes caught my attention: "Tell me something weird about the people in Erie." "Well, first of all, I think the whole place is made of cigarettes."

Instagram’s Story

A good article from Vanity Fair: Mark Zuckerberg and Kevin Systrom on What Really Happened When Facebook Bought Instagram.

McDonald's Theory I use a trick with co-workers when we're trying to decide where to eat for lunch and no one has any ideas. I recommend McDonald's. An interesting thing happens. Everyone unanimously agrees that we can't possibly go to McDonald's, and better lunch suggestions emerge. Magic! This is often why brainstorming works. The goal […]

What happens when pirates play a game development simulator and then go bankrupt because of piracy? This is all true. A game developer made a game in which the player assumes the role of a game developer. He seeded unlocked copies of his game online so people could easily pirate it, with one small change: […]

Bartender | Mac Menu Bar Item Control I currently have in my menu bar: Twitter Dropbox Drive Genius TypeIt4Me Fantastical Crashplan FastScripts UPS Battery Level Bluetooth Time Machine WiFi Date/Time User Account Spotlight Notification Center Not enough to warrant a $15 purchase. Maybe $5.

NBA player Jason Collins says he is gay, and the fact that this rates as news shows just how far behind we are where we should be when it comes to this kind of stuff. This kind of stuff will not be news in 20 years. Hopefully it won't be news in ten, or five. […]

I bet you never thought that since adding actual movies to sites is somewhat complex ((What with non-widespread adoption of the media tag and all)) so people are reverting to making animated GIFs of scenes so that all devices and browsers can display them. Say what? Yes. It's true.
