The 2006 Steelers schedule is out. The Steelers start the season early, as is (recent) tradition, with what will be a tough game against the Dolphins. Then we have 11 days off. The schedule has lots of late games this year, and one thing that will suck: Dec 3 - Dec 7 shows two games. Ouch. That will be difficult. I like that we finish up with Cleveland, Baltimore, and the Who Dey crowd in the last four weeks. I hate that our BYE week always comes so damn early. The NFL lies if they tell you BYE weeks change for teams every year. The Steelers almost always have one of the first BYE weeks.
Sep 7 Miami 8:30pm
Sep 18 @ Jacksonville 8:30pm
Sep 24 Cincinnati 1:00pm
Week 4 ---------- BYE
Oct 8 @ San Diego 8:15pm
Oct 15 Kansas City 4:15pm
Oct 22 @ Atlanta 1:00pm
Oct 29 @ Oakland 4:15pm
Nov 5 Denver 4:15pm
Nov 12 New Orleans 1:00pm
Nov 19 @ Cleveland 1:00pm
Nov 26 @ Baltimore 1:00pm
Dec 3 Tampa Bay 1:00pm
Dec 7 Cleveland 8:00pm
Dec 17 @ Carolina 1:00pm
Dec 24 Baltimore 1:00pm
Dec 31 @ Cincinnati 1:00pm

I wish gmail had a progress bar. I'm sending a 160 MB .zip file to someone and I have no idea how much longer I have to wait.

I'm not sure why, but Spotlight misses files all the time. Today I tried to search for a file called "HoH.mov" by typing in "hoh.mov" into a "Find" window in the Finder.
Two copies at "HoH.mov" from my backup disk appeared, but none from my startup disk. I looked on my startup disk and, yes, the files were there.
I'm not sure how to fix this (I assume I can delete the Spotlight index or something), but until Spotlight can actually find files that exist, it will remain virtually useless for me.
P.S. Every single thing in the Spotlight prefs is checked and enabled.

I still think a virtual PC - one that lets you switch back and forth and share data amongst two operating systems - is the best way to go. But for now, Apple lets you install and boot Windows XP on your Mac with Boot Camp.
BTW, what happens if a nasty virus on the PC side hoses things? Can it cross over and screw up the Mac OS, even though Windows won't do HFS+?
I think it's unlikely many people at all will buy Mac hardware to run Windows more than half the time. This scratches a small niche itch.

Is MovableType 3.5 coming? 3.3? How about even 3.2.1?

I spent the past few days in Georgia at a TaylorMade ball launch event. It was fun - I met Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose, played a little (six holes) of golf, got some free food… a worthwhile trip.
The entire D concourse of the Atlanta airport was without power, for some reason, on my return flight home. Then, after running from B1 to D28 in Cleveland's airport, I found out that my connecting flight - the one that was supposed to take off a minute after my plane from Atlanta had landed - was delayed by about an hour.
Grrrrrrrr.

Question: How do you avoid having your ears "plug" when flying?
My Answer: I've heard that you can blow through your nose while holding it shut. While that works, I'm afraid of literally blowing out my ear, so i don't do that. Chewing gum and yawning don't seem to work very well. Why hasn't someone invented something that makes the whole "ear poppping" thing a non-issue?

I've only seen bad jokes so far, one of which involved Duke Nukem Forever. If I had a groan smiley, I'd have used it there.
At any rate, I encourage you to post links to your favorite Internet April Fool's Jokes 2K6 in the comments.
Update (2:40pm): I've yet to see a single funny joke.

Anyone have a spare $722,534 * 1.06 (sales tax)? C'mon, that's less than a million dollars, surely someone has it. Why? Duh.
What does $800k buy you? 806 horsepower, seating for two, a rotary telephone for a dashboard, and side doors that won't allow you to park within two feet of a curb.

Flint was coming back. Then he wasn't. Now he's not for at least another few days.
He seems to have found a good family with 15 acres of land and three kids. He's good with kids, and actually likes being tortured. It should work nicely for him. Fingers are crossed.

Had a pool lesson today. Must work on keeping arm hanging straight down from elbow. It's partly wrist angle, partly other things.
I'm looking forward to kicking Brandon and Ben's butts tomorrow night, though, I can assure you of that.

It's funny how Erie-ites can be when it reaches a balmy 45°. I would have been quite comfortable walking around outside in shorts. As it was, I just swept out the garage and washed my car. Kiddo and Carey helped wash Carey's car.
It's also somewhat funny how "fun" washing a car can be when you haven't been able to do it for a few months. And golf… even the bad shots are okay. You're happy just to be out.

I guess you eat out a lot when you tell your three-year-old that you're going home, then ask her what she'd like to eat, and she replied "let's see what they have."
