Question: If you had to describe your decorating (or design) style in one word, what would it be? My Answer: Austere. You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

Question: For what time is your alarm set? My Answer: 6:00am, but that's for Carey, not me. It's actually 5:54 because, for some bizarre reason, I like multiples of 9 and 6. 54 is just that. You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

I'm waffling on the whole HDTV bit. Granted, I only posted yesterday, but I've done a fair amount of research now and I've all but decided on the Sony KDF60XS955 60" Rear-Projection LCD TV. Retails for about $3600, but I'm pretty sure I could get it for just over $3,000. 20" deep and looks like […]

Question: How big is your TV? How far do you sit from it? My Answer: 36", currently, and about eight or nine feet, tops. You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

Yay! Raw support is here! I'll update this post later when I've had a chance to play with it. Update: seems to work well. A bit slow to show the thumbnails, but I suppose I could just name my images properly to begin with. Dragging a .cr2 file (from a Digital Rebel XT) to Photoshop's […]

For various reasons, which most of you should be able to guess, the home page to this site - http://nslog.com/ - is now pretty bland. The "home page" continues to exist at index.php, but I updated the DirectoryIndex directive to put index.html ahead of index.php, and index.html is the bland "Erik/Orange/Geek" thing you see now. […]

The new house - to which we're getting closer and closer every day - has a big, big, big living room. So big my trusty 36" Wega (bought before the Wega line turned to crap) might look rather small. So on to bestbuy.com I go, only to find the "Philips 50" Plasma HD-Ready TV with […]

Question: If you had $100 and were transported back in time 100 years to invest it knowing that you would cash out in 2005, in what would you invest? My Answer: Stocks in some companies may pay well, but I think I'd buy small chunks of land all around the Los Angeles area. An acre […]

I underwent a personality test today as part of a job interview. The questions looked about like this: M L _ _ Reliable, Dependable _ _ Easy-Going, Good-Natured _ _ Driven, Motivated _ _ Persuasive, Convincing 40 or so of these questions existed, and in each case you have to mark two Xs - one […]

I dropped by Lowe's again today on "my lunch break" to have a look at some of the washers and dryers. It boils down to the $1800 set of one of three brands: Bosch, Whirlpool, and Maytag. If you're not shopping for a washer or dryer, no doubt this entry will be rather boring. I […]

Apparently, you can "thank George Lucas" for his work on Star Wars at thankyougeorge.com (via Aaron White). I'm not gonna sign my name to say thanks, but I will sign my name at "donotwritethedialogyourselfgeorge.com" if it ever comes online. 😛

I took advantage of this offer: 30 free iTunes songs with the purchase of an AirPort Express. Since I'm moving to a new house soon - and one with a much bigger area - it'll be nice to have "extended coverage" just by plugging something into the wall. Carey and I will be able to […]

Question: Are you using any Automator scripts or actions yet? My Answer: No. I think Automator will be much like AppleScript - utilized heavily by some, under-utilized by the vast majority (most of whom won't even know it's there). You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or […]

Preview offers a "Reduce File Size" option in the save panel when I choose "PDF" as the file type. When I choose it and attempt to save the file, Preview promptly quits without so much as a standard crash dialog and the file fails to appear. Suffice to say, this feature appears to be borked. […]

If ever there was a TV station that makes you want to do something with wood, HGTV is it. Since Carey and I found the home we chose to buy, I've been watching entirely too much HGTV. Design on a Dime, I Want That, Design Remix, Designer Finals, Curb Appeal, Decorating Cents, Designed to Sell, […]
