Suppose you want to produce an online magazine. 12 issues per year, each issue would be "self contained" and may even follow the paper model rather than the porn model: you only get issues when you're subscribed, but you can buy back issues.
Articles would contain videos and photos, but not be super media heavy (i.e. no super-whiz-bang HTML 5 style stuff).
What software would you use to power this? How would you do it?
You could make PDFs, which have the advantage of being able to nicely control layout, etc. Plus each "issue" feels like an "issue" and not just a collection of web pages that happened to be released at the same time.
Or perhaps you could do that - release a series of web pages with a table of contents. It'd certainly make embedding videos easier. People could get teasers, too, that prompts them to subscribe if they're not logged in and/or subscribing already.
But even with either of those options (or a third, unknown better option), what software do you use to power it? WordPress with a customized or paid-for-and-configured plugin or two?

The Definitive History Of The West Wing. I missed watching my yearly re-watching of West Wing this year. Just too busy.
Don't miss the little things in the sides, either. For example: The Fish Bowl.

What Coke Contains - fascinating stuff.
A much smaller proportion of the syrup is flavors. These include vanilla, which is the fruit of a Mexican orchid that has been dried and cured for around three months; cinnamon, the inner bark of a Sri Lankan tree; coca-leaf which comes from South America and is processed in a unique US government authorized factory in New Jersey to remove its addictive stimulant cocaine; and kola nut, a red nut found on a tree which grows in the African Rain Forest (this may be the origin of Coca-Cola’s distinctive red logo).

Apple - Privacy
Finally, I want to be absolutely clear that we have never worked with any government agency from any country to create a backdoor in any of our products or services. We have also never allowed access to our servers. And we never will.
Tim's smart enough to know what "never" means.

The Tech21 iPhone 6 Cases are out, and I picked up a clear checked design one at Best Buy.
Now my entire family has Tech21 cases, and I currently believe they're the best: they're not overly bulky but they offer a good amount of protection.
I may, now and then, slip the iPhone 6 back into the silicone case, but that will be rare.

Daring Fireball: Apple Watch: Initial Thoughts and Observations
Apple Watch Sport (aluminum/glass): $349 (not a guess)
Apple Watch (stainless steel/sapphire): $999
Apple Watch Edition (18-karat gold/sapphire): $4,999
Shocking at first, but the more I consider it, the more accurate I think it is. Except the Edition price. I think that's going to be $9,999 or higher.
I've said I have zero interest in getting an Apple Watch. I've changed my mind. If I can use it as a remote to activate slo-mo filming on my iPhone 6, then that's worth about $200 or so of the $349 starting price. The other $149 might not be too difficult to make up.

Seriously?
This, like Antennagate before, simply comes down to a basic lack of understanding of physics.
"When I apply a lot of force to this piece of aluminum, it bends!"
Reminds me of the old joke.
"Doctor, it hurts when I do this."
"Don't do that."

Amazon Kindle: Your Highlights. Gotta remember this page. Duh.
P.S. They're supposed to sync to my Mac application, right? That's never seemed to work for some reason.

They should have called it that, following Thoughts on Music and Thoughts on Flash.

Using app-specific passwords:
If you use iCloud with any third party apps (such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or BusyCal) you can generate app-specific passwords that allow you to sign in securely, even if the app you're using doesn't support two-step verification. Using an app-specific password also ensures that your primary Apple ID password isn't collected or stored by any third party apps you might use. Starting on October 1, 2014, app-specific passwords will be required to sign in to iCloud using any third party apps.
