The first Austin Powers movie is on TV, and I caught it at the point when Vanessa (Liz Hurley) is talking to her mother on the phone. Part of the scene requires Vanessa to move her arm, a magnifying glass, a tea kettle, etc. just so to hide the Powers Penis. The "biting the sausage" part was eliminated.

In the next scene, Austin said "I never forget a kitty… cat." The original line is of course that he never forgets a pussy… cat.

I hate when movies are edited for TV. Parts are edited like above, it's 4:3 ratio, and there are commercials. Ugh. This is why I have DVDs.

I got my copy of Final Cut Pro 4 yesterday when I returned from California. I've installed it, but haven't launched it yet. I have, however, launched Soundtrack, an app a friend of mine is working on as an intern with Apple this summer.

I've played with it only a little, but so far I must say that Soundtrack is worth the $499 (upgrade price) alone! With a bunch of sound loops, and a fairly intuitive (yet powerful) UI, Soundtrack had me creating professional (well, close) sound tracks in no time. Game developers may want to pick up Soundtrack - it may be an inexpensive way to create scores for their games. And hey, then they'd have Final Cut Pro 4 to play with as well!

If I ever write a sound track worth publishing, I'll do just that.

Question: If you were to be successful in another profession, what would you want to do?

My Answer: Play on the PGA tour. Which reminds me: the U.S. Open is on, and I've got my TiVo recording it. If I start watching soon, I should be able to skip the commercials and finish up at about the right time…

If you can't laugh at yourself, then you're going to have a long, unhappy life. I'm Polish, and these kinds of jokes are still very funny.

Question: If you could have been on the United States Supreme Court for any single case in its history, which would you select and why?

My Answer: The Microsoft case. Especially given recent news that - oops - their browser will now be part of their OS. After all, that was a big part of the reason they were sued - and convicted of - monopoly/antitrust violations. Right? This case may have the biggest impact on my life directly. Roe v. Wade? Very indirectly affects my life. Computing? Very much so.

My Answer: Is "the call girl of my choosing" a "service"? 🙂 No, that's not my answer. I'm sure I'd quickly get tired of having beautiful, naked, willing women around me every day. Uh huh.

My Answer: I grew up near Erie, PA, and Boca Raton, FL is about 16 hours (if you drive fast) by car, three by plane, and about 1250 miles.

My Answer: That people, even though they say they can, really can't deal with honesty.

…my failure to find a suitable starting point drove me to Java. I've not delved too deep (chewing on OO topics more than anything) but having to tackle the whole of C before beginning on Objective-C seems daunting.

Thing is, "the whole of C" can be learned quite easily in a week. If you're going to learn Java, learning Objective-C is probably just as easy, if not easier. After all, how much C-like stuff do you have to learn for Java anyway?

I make no bones about the fact that I adore Objective-C. Jamie's learning C too - she'll have to learn more than "the basics necessary to move into Obj-C," but she's learning C. It ain't that hard. You don't need to learn the built in C library - learn some variable declaration, a bit about pointers, a bit about for loops and control structures (tests, etc.), and you're reading to move to Obj-C. One week.

Question: Can you play an instrument?

My Answer: I can play a trumpet (and many other brass instruments). I can (barely) play a piano. I could probably learn to play others, but as far as being able to play things well, just the trumpet, really.

Saw The Italian Job a few days ago. Charlize looks good throughout, the Mini Cooper chase scenes are okay, Ed Norton is his typical good self. Pure escapist theater - nothing to learn, no astounding effects - just a good show for (out here in CA) an increasingly pricy cost.

After leaving the show, though, the race scenes fresh in my mind, I am quite sure I drove a bit more, uhhh, shall we say aggressively than normal. There's one curve in particular, from 85 South to 280 South, that's particularly fun (especially at 75 MPH or so). My new acquaintance Matt said "in LA, people drive their fancy cars fast. Here, they seem to drive them faster." In southern Florida, the only things you really have to worry about are the old people, and they clog up traffic quite nicely. Over here, there are no such old people - no clogging, no worries.

Question: What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?

My Answer: A shark, about 180 lbs, when I visited Florida. I think I was about six, but as everyone that knows me at all would tell you, nearly everything happened to me when I was six.

If you're going to write such a short review, why write a review at all?

As to the "elite ebanks" gentleman who commented, I am 100% positive that he never wrote (nor did he buy the software according to our records). Our metrics for customer response: over 90% of those who write in are replied to within six hours. The other 10% are replied to within two days.

"This app doesn't work for me as I can't change the sending options"? We have no idea what that means. They're text fields, after all - and the only times they're disabled is when you choose "Use Defaults" which just grabs your Internet pref pane defaults.

I'm hopeful that future reviews are more than 400 words. 😛

Judi really likes Zinio, but after trying out the demo, I quickly deleted it from my hard disk. Why?

• You have to lug your PowerBook/iBook just to read a magazine instead of, well, just a magazine.
• You can't pass along a Zinio magazine to a friend like you can a real magazine.
• Screen glare? Don't get that much off of printed pages.
• Magazines have no battery life.
• Magazines don't require the "latest version" of something (or an Internet connection) to be readable.

I could list more, but frankly, I've got other things to do. Like make sure every last trace of Zinio is gone from my computer.

Question: What's the biggest prank you've ever pulled?

My Answer: I once, with a friend, put a bunch of rainbow stickers (not the Apple logo kind - the square kind) on some cars in a parking lot. Even months later some cars still had the stickers attached (we attached them at a slight angle with a corner cut slightly).
