I downloaded and launched Yojimbo. I drug a URL from Safari to the "Bookmarks" section of the application. It utterly failed to recognize it. Then, after discovering that I had to drag it to the Library or the dock, I tried to encrypt it. It crashed. Then, after re-launching and successfully encrypting something, I was […]

Today I used GarageBand to produce episode 10 of the Golf Talk Podcast over at The Sand Trap. My routine is as follows: Use Audio Hijack Pro and Skype to record audio. Reduce noise and pops/clicks in Soundtrack Pro (STP). Remove silence, bad jokes, "uhms" and "wells" and other crap in STP. Add in commercials, […]

Roz Ho comes on to the Macworld Expo keynote stage at about 1:12 (hours:minutes) in, and man is she the opposite of Steve or what? Holy cow. She's… just… bad!

I've removed the following folders from my iPhoto '06 folder (~/Library/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library) and it seems to work just fine: 2002/ 2003/ 2004/ 2005/ 2006/ iPhotoLock.data Library.cache Library.data Library.iPhoto Nearly all of the year folders had nothing in them except a few Data folders filled with things like "795" and "795.attr." Every time I launch Safari - whether it's after a crash or after a restart or after me quitting Safari manually - the "Enable plug-ins" option in the "Security" preferences is disabled. I have Saft installed, but none of its settings seem to be affecting this issue. I can check the box and Safari works […]

Apparently, Flip4Mac can "play Windows Media files (.wma and .wmv) directly in QuickTime Player and view Windows Media content on the Internet using a Web browser." If it works, awesome!!!

See, now that's funny. If you believe in a god of some form or another, you probably realize now he or she (or it) has a sense of humor, too.

After reading this, I'm still not entirely sure what Apple's done to violate the patents (let alone whether such patents are valid).

Question: Where will y'all get your Macworld coverage tomorrow? My Answer: I'm going to try this site and an IRC channel or two. I'll also probably have an AIM group chat going on… I think Adium can do that now right? 🙂 You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in […]

From this article comes a list of 10 things Owen Linzmayer hates about Mac OS X. My summary: Dock Items Bounce Indefinitely: So turn it off. Programs Force Themselves to the Forefront: Very, very rarely. Trashed Items Can't Be Opened: This happens to me too, but if the dang thing is in the trash why […]

Lately, I've had the need to lay out a lot of stuff in OmniGraffle lately. You know what would be nice? A "Conversion Scale." In other words, I'd draw a block and say "for the purpose of this document, this rectangle is 10 feet wide. Then I could enter sizes for things (chairs, tables, etc.) […]

Some people don't read articles very closely. Hint: it was a joke. Then again, some of the people commenting on the article don't even think it's a joke.

This is a nifty tip. It works as advertised as well, without changing pitch. Ah, AppleScript. 🙂

I don't think I've yet participated in Apple Bug Friday, but here's one that bugs me: I'm in iTunes, clearing out some podcasts. I choose "move to trash" when I delete one. When I'm done, I control-click (right-click) on the trash to empty it… and can't, because iTunes hasn't properly notified the Dock that the […]
