For some reason, some - but not all - of the comments in this blog's feed are set to 1969. What's up with that? I haven't seen anyone else complaining about this issue.

It's an ad, but I still like it. 🙂
This win keeps feeling better and better with each passing hour. I care more about hockey (probably because I play hockey) than the Steelers, and the Penguins have faced more adversity in the past few years.
The way widgets have gone, I really should look at re-doing the sidebar on this blog to use widgets. They'd all be of my own creation, but the benefits at this point might be worth the work required to "widgetize" the sidebar.

As a valued AT&T customer, AT&T can offer you an early iPhone upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 01/21/2010.
$299.00* — 8GB iPhone 3G (black) $399.00* — 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) $499.00* — 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)
Do I care? Not one bit. I knew it was a two-year deal when I signed up. In fact, I'm quite pleased that I can upgrade six months early. That's cool.
To those of you whining out there: on what grounds do you feel you've got a legitimate complaint? Seriously?
P.S. I have a first-gen iPhone I could sell someone. In great shape. If someone wants it for $250-ish, I might be tempted to upgrade early because the wife would also be upgrading.

Went to a cow farm today with an "explorers" group. I was surprised by one thing: how skittish cows are of people. They don't like to be petted, though the few that did seemed to enjoy it.
And cows will sniff your hand just like a dog. But their noses have a whole lot more slobber on them.
P.S. Apparently a lot of people don't realize that male cows don't have udders. Ugh.

The takeaway seems to be, for me, a matter of keeping my right hand in what feels like an almost "underneath" position ((In reality it's where it should be - neither strong nor weak.)), with my right elbow pointed back at my hip, and keeping that right elbow close to my body throughout the swing. If I thrust my hips forward, the timing takes care of itself.
Not too far underneath. It's almost more about keeping my right elbow close to me, which pulls the hands in a bit more quickly than I've tended to do in the past.

Here's an image - ISO 200, 1/250, f/5.6, IS on, monopod ((Regardless, there may still be a little camera shake, but it should be pretty minimal.)) - with the 300mm f/2.8L IS lens and the Canon 2x extender.
Like I said before: suitable for the web, but I'm not sure you're going to want to go make a ton of 8x10s out of them or anything.

I'm once again attending the 2009 Memorial Tournament. I'm looking forward to trying out my 300mm f/2.8 lens with the 2x extender. Results last year with the 1.4x were quite good, and though I'm not expecting tack-sharp shots with the 2x, I think they should be more than good enough for web-based publication.
With two camera bodies this year, the 5D II will likely carry the 300mm (with or without an extender) and the 5D will probably have the 70-200 on it most of the time.
Prediction: a few thousand photos and some sore shoulders, ankles, and knees by about Saturday. 🙂

If you sign up for Dropbox (which I recommend you do), please feel free to use this link. I'm told I can get up to another 3 GB of free space if enough people do.
People have often asked me why I don’t have an Apple TV, and the simple answer is because I don’t need one. I have an Xbox 360, and it can serve up digital photos, video, and audio from networked Macs using software like… Rivet from Cynical Peak Software. (I use similar software to interface my Mac with my PlayStation 3, too.) If I had a Windows Media Center PC I could link that using built-in software on the Xbox. And Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service offers video purchases and rentals, same as the Apple TV.
I wonder if Peter Cohen knows he can use Rivet to serve media to his PS3, too. 🙂
