Why can't Safari's "undo" undo closing a tab? Just open the tab back up, scroll back to where I was, and let me forget that I finger-twitched on command-w a bit too quickly.
Gah!

For mother's day this year, I bought Carey some cabinets (kitchen cabinets), a laminate countertop, and all the assorted goodies that are needed to install it (some wood, screws, a pry bar for the baseboard, a knife to cut the carpet, and so on. We also picked up some paint.
The plan: convert one wall of the downstairs playroom into a craft table. We'll put one 18" three-drawer cabinet on each end. In the middle, we'll have a 30" cabinet (one drawer, two doors). That will create two desk areas for scrapbooking.
We're currently trying to decide between cutting the carpet to put the cabinets right on the subfloor or setting them on (preferably "into") the carpet. I think we'll go with the former.
I'll try to post some before/after pictures later, but since we've already moved stuff either out of the room or into the center, any before image is bound to look pretty silly.

I can't be the only person who enjoys a potato chip…
- … on top of some pizzas.
- … on burgers.
- … on a hot dog.
- … with ice cream, preferably chocolate.
Okay, maybe the last one, but I know enough people that eat them with the others. Are you one? What unusual combos do you make with potato chips?

The latest (beta 5) version of the iPhone SDK was released, and in a move that surprises absolutely nobody, synchronizing (or even copying) with a desktop app is still not possible.
There is still no way to even copy data from a desktop app to the iPhone (or vice versa). The most likely avenue for this would be via iTunes.
We simply need the ability to copy an XML file from our desktop app to our iPhone app's "space" and to copy a file from our iPhone app's space onto the computer. Why is this not possible?
Not everyone will have a "network" to send data, yet everyone will, from time to time, plug their phone in and synchronize it with iTunes.

A user on The Sand Trap forum linked to his online Scorecards at this URL: http://home.comcast.net/~2624/.
The URL works fine in OmniWeb, iCab, Firefox, and even Internet Explorer for the Mac, yet Safari (and any WebKit-based browser) shows a 404.
Changing the user agent in Safari doesn't fix anything, either.
What gives?
P.S. I've yet to fire up Parallels to see if it behaves the same in Windows browsers, including Safari.

The Pittsburgh Penguins knocked off the whiny, whiny Rangers in five games and in overtime today, and will now face the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers, last year's worst team, deserve credit for making the Eastern Conference finals, but I suspect that's about as far as they'll get - the Pens are the better team at every position.
It will be an exciting run. Exciting enough that, for the first time, I dug out my copy of NHL '08. Unfortunately, there's no way to set up a "Playoffs" mode and create a Pens/Flyers matchup. P'shaw!

I have absolutely no plans to buy the game. None. It interests me about as much as a swift kick to the groin (or most of the other things you can do to other people in the game). I don't care to reward people for making glitzier versions of games that lack much merit, and from everything I've seen, GTA IV is basically GTA I, II, and III warmed over.
I played Vice City once on my PS2 for about six hours. It had, for me, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Has anyone seen a method for embedding a google map into a vBulletin forum via bbcode? I've yet to see one, and the ones I've tried to make myself fail miserably. Either they're too complex, you can only have one per page (which messes up people who might quote the map or wish to embed more than one map), or the site blows up when someone has JavaScript disabled… something goes awry every time.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I'd like to thank the two folks with whom I worked out a deal for some smuggled Mexican Coke. I received my first set and, well, it's great. Not only is it nice to drink from a bottle again, but the taste is very, very clean. There's no syrupy after-taste. Mmmmmm.

In case you haven't noticed, I've been a bit apathetic lately in blogging. Actually, a mild case of apathy has met with spring weather (i.e. "Erik is out golfing and reviewing golf equipment a lot") and a few little projects here and there.
As such, I've started several little entries, but never gotten around to finishing and posting them. So, instead, you get this little passage. 🙂

Move your mouse over the image here to see what I'm talking about:
The flower is, in reality, some sort of purple flower. But blue and yellow are complementary colors, so shifting the magenta channel in Aperture towards blue results in what I believe is a "more pleasing" picture.
I've posted this picture for tomorrow's Photo Battle in the purple version, but I was tempted to post it in blue. I felt like I'd be lying, though, and I'm not particularly fond of editing photos in a way that hides the truth.

Latest pet peeve: websites that lack a "notify me of follow-up comments" functionality.
I have one installed here and at The Sand Trap and virtually every other site I manage.
If you're using WordPress, I recommend Subscribe to Comments.

My Wii Code is still online. My Mario Kart code is 3179-6464-7813
. Tomorrow, I'll be picking up my copy of Mario Kart for the Wii. I'll spend a fair amount of time playing single player games, but I'd like to play some friends too.
If you're a friend, let me know. Comment, email, IM, or something…

Carey, her mom, my grandma, and I went to Jr.'s last night. I think the biggest difference between bad comedians and good ones are that the bad comics tell jokes. They start, they end, and you know exactly where those breaks are. Good comedians weave jokes into a running monologue, with no real beginning or end.
