Carey took this picture with our point-and-shoot (the Canon SD 550). This is the little baby orangutan (Leela) at the Erie Zoo. Both Leela and her dad (Joe) respond very well to Little One (but nobody else) each time she's there.

I can get video off of my DirecTV-equipped TiVo ("DirecTiVo"), but it's a painful process that includes hooking my DV camera (a little Sony) up and recording. I think take the DV Cam upstairs to my G5, where I import the video. Obviously, for an hour-long program, this process takes over two hours. I'm not […]

Question: Google + Apple = ? My Answer: Something that can easily defeat Microsoft? Nah - it's probably nothing. What do you think? You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

I've been playing with Musicast for the past few months, and though the 1.0 lacks a few features, it really provides a nifty interface to let you share your music with others. Is the RIAA watching? I don't know. But at the same time, I've password-protected my Musicast site from time to time so that […]

Question: Which sock do you put on first? What pants leg? My Answer: The left one, usually. I'm not sure one. I do, like most people, put them on one leg (or foot) at a time. You are encouraged to answer the Question of the Day for yourself in the comments or on your blog.

I'm considering a Mac Pro purchase to replace my Dual 2 GHz G5 (2x250 GB, 2.5, BT, AP, SD). I have an existing 23" Aluminum display that I'll likely carry over. With $899 for 4 GB of RAM from RAMJet, the price comes to about $4500 after tax for this configuration: Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel […]
Ha. Don Yacktman cares so little about Freshly Squeezed Software that he hasn't yet noticed that "freshsqueeze.com" - the base href on the FSS site, expired on August 24 (two days ago) and now resolves to Dotster's "revenuedirect.com" site. Two of the other domains (freshlysqueezedsw.com and .net) are also "dead" as of August 24. As […]

I tried Khoi's "Shorty" software today and came away unimpressed. Not only did the software fail to work for me (I have Apache 2.x and MySQL 4.x installed at The Sand Trap), but I jumped into the forum and read about a few serious security issues. Also, the software doesn't work with IE, ruling out, […]

By the way… Iris is the name you'll want to look for on this blog. And in the meantime, remember to check out Scorecard.

Really? Yes. And this quote about says it all: "Creative is very fortunate to have been granted this early patent," Apple's CEO Steve Jobs said in a press release.

The North East High School boys team had their first match today, albeit at J.C. Martin (ugh). They finished at 290, a couple strokes ahead of Harborcreek, who had 290. With scores of 71, 72, 73, and 74 counting, Cathedral Prep and McDowell beat them. Harborcreek will likely be the toughest competition all year, and […]

Question: Has anyone ever been as dominant in any other sport as Tiger Woods is in golf? My Answer: I don't think so. The guy has a 30% winning percentage in the majors. Phil Mickelson is something like 3 for 58 (~5%). Jack Nicklaus was 18 for 159, or about 11.3% (though that number includes […]
