I'm trying to get my album artwork in order, largely due to the fact that I realize how little of my songs have album artwork. Unfortunately, iTunes offers no "has no album artwork" smart playlist option. Bummer. 🙁 So, anyway, I'm working on it. iTunes Catalog has largely proven useless - wal-mart.com it is for […]

Yesterday I added two "Essentials" albums and the "Top 100 of 2003" from the iTunes Music Store. Ever since, when I try to access my shopping cart (for paring), I am told: Joy. When I click my shopping cart, I see "Accessing Music Store" for a few minutes before this error appears. Activity Monitor shows […]

Robert Scoble is up to it again. Up to what? Being stupid. Let's have a look: 1. He wants Longhorn to set the highest resolution possible out of the box (and really, he wants XP to do it too). He repeats this same error many times: turning on advanced features out of the box and […]

You know, I might consider color-tinting my iPod if the company doing the tinting would show real images and not flaky, poor renders. If I'm going to drop $49 and permanently alter my pristine iPod, I want to know exactly how my little pal will look in the end. Exactly how it will look. The […]

They may as well have called this the CSS Common Sense Sheet. Judi may like it, but I find it a bit… well… a bit "duh." Actually, Judi just seems nicer about it, by saying "we've all been there," and I'm blogging it so that when a friend asks me a basic CSS question, I […]

I'm going to try FocusFollows in my Terminal having read Duncan's post. I'm not sure I'll dig it, but I'm giving it a try. defaults write com.apple.Terminal FocusFollowsMouse -string YES Of course, to turn it off, use NO instead of YES. We'll see.

There's something unusual about typing man date into your terminal. Depending on where your mind is at the moment, there are a few interesting ways you can take such a short phrase. But, hey, I digress. I'm trying to download Adium automatically every day at noon. The format they use is illustrated by today's file: […]

Does an email address from a California-based company (say, one ending in "@mac.com") count in the recent ban on spam in CA? Good luck enforcing that one. 🙁

It feels unusual posting this to the "Computing: General" category, but I wanted to point out that there's now an iTunes LinkMaker. Search for songs, artists, albums, and create links, badges, etc. Great. I also want to publicly prod one person (perhaps he's named Jason) to get Recent Tunes update out. The update will upload […]

I have seen the enemy, and man is he ugly. I'm used to Wintellian ripoffs being ugly, clunky, cumbersome, and non-intuitive, but this one has catapulted itself to the top of the "worst of the worst" list. "The question is, how much and how far Dell can go with it?" says Dell President Kevin Rollins. […]

Easily the most ridiculous thing I've heard this month: There is no sense in letting kids get accustomed to easier-to-use, more reliable machines that are less prone to viruses when they will have to grow up and survive in the modern workplace. Quote courtesy of Pinellas County superintendent Howard Hinesley on his decision to replace […]

I was attempting to set up a client's email account today, and he was having trouble. He connects via MSN dial-up, and though he could receive mail through his account (at his own domain, hosted on a server of mine), he could not send email. He kept getting a message about the server terminating the […]

I'm very frustrated with CSS right now. I'm sure I'm brain farting, but I can't figure out how to do something and I'm about to give up and use a table. I've got an 85 x 85 image (the site's logo) that will go in the top left corner of a Web page. To the […]
