Illegal Fireworks

Why on earth are fireworks illegal (in PA, anyway - I think even sparklers may be illegal)? Cigarettes are legal, so I don't buy the safety issue at all. Perhaps the government should make fireworks legal, and tax the heck out of them like they do for cigarettes.

… for three prospects from the Braves. Screw the Pirates. Jackasses.

GM Advertising

Why in the world is GM advertising? "We're not going out of business; we're getting down to business." Who writes that tripe? Who believes it?

Coke Rewards Points

Just curious: anyone else out there collect Coke Rewards points? Carey and I have about 2900, but really haven't seen anything worth spending them on for quite some time. We used to get the free movie rentals (plus pop and popcorn) from Blockbuster, but we haven't seen those offers in several months.

Oprah’s Free KFC

So Carey and I take our free Oprah KFC coupons. They tell us, reading a prepared statement, that "due to the overwhelming response" we'd have to come inside, fill out a form that they will mail in, and that coupons will then be mailed to us. What a crock. More here.

WTF, people? Who the heck thought this was a good idea?

Pontiac Dead?

Seems so. Oh well. Carey and I still love our Aztek. Update: Bah. 🙂

Philadelphia Fans

Philadelphia Eagles Fans: not the classiest of fans. Philadelphia Flyers Fans: perhaps even worse. Philadelphia Philly Fans? 76ers fans? You tell me. Seriously, are the baseball and basketball fans less obnoxious, or is it a city-wide problem?

Working Remotely

Rands has a good post about working remotely.

Last year during the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Pittsburgh Penguins showed the broadcast on a large screen outside. Fans would gather on the lawn, watch the broadcast, and celebrate a great run by the Pens in the playoffs. This year, they've done it again for the first two games (shown on FSN), but NBC has […]

Back to the Grind

I've never found it terribly difficult to get back into the swing of things after a break. Perhaps the biggest problem is answering all the "how was your vacation" questions? Then again, those are greatly diminished by having a blog, and is perhaps one of the best reasons to have one. 🙂

Let it be noted that the wife played golf today and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Ha. 🙂 Came home to watch the Pens win a game against the Rangers, Tiger Woods make about 19 bogeys in 18 holes, but also slip in about three or four birdies, to get to second place but well back of […]

Honda CR-V Feedback?

Anyone out there own a Honda CR-V? Or a RAV4? We're due to replace the Aztek this year, and we're considering the CR-V, the RAV4, or other vehicles in that "smaller SUV" class.

A few Republican friends have told me lately how he's noticed that "all the intellectually smug, superior Obama supporters have been relatively quiet now that their guy's in office and completely screwing up, going back on promises, or at the very least not living up to their unrealistic expectations. They're being awfully quiet these days." […]

So I've heard from a fairly large number of people lately that Obama is completely screwing up the "economic recovery" plan. These people tend to be Republicans, but I've heard from a few Democrats, too. Most of what I've heard from sources of unknown party are those in the golf industry. There's a flap about […]
