Employed for Another Year

Good news: I'm employed for another year. Woohoo! Nothing beats sitting at home making money in your boxer shorts. And I'm intentionally leaving that sentence just the way it is.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Best Buy wouldn't match a Circuit City price on an item that is $149 (with free shipping). Best Buy wanted $169 and considers the fact that you have to buy it online from CC to be the discrediting factor. It's also $149 from Amazon.com with free shipping. I could have it delivered to the CC […]

Wall Street Bailout

Can someone explain to me exactly why it's in my best interests to support the bailout of Wall Street? Even theoretically? Because until someone can, I'm thinking this is quite appropriate.

If you watch any sports shows, you'll hear about this: link 1, link 2, link 3. I support it.

I could have sworn old-school Gatorade didn't have a ton of sugar in it, and I was surprised to find that modern Gatorade - including Tiger Woods' "Tiger" version - is basically water, sugar, dye, and a little flavoring. And worse yet, it's not sugar, but HFCS ((High Fructose Corn Syrup)). Did it change at […]

Adopting a Greyhound

So, we're considering adopting a greyhound. It seems it's the only way to get one, after all. Though part of me loved being "in control" from the get-go (or, well, about nine weeks old anyway) with my former canine pal, part of me is looking forward to not having to get up three times per […]

You know, it's pretty lousy when you get to ride about ten kiddie rides in eight hours at an amusement park for the low, low price of about $100. How about discounted rates based on height? How about "parent tickets" that account for the height of your kid and correspondingly restrict you to riding only […]

Got a Coin from Poland

I just recently purchased a coin from Poland: a 1995 2 Zlote coin. It's a two-tone deal and it'll make a pretty nifty ball maker (when playing golf). The coin came from Uruguay and took almost three weeks to arrive, but I'm happy to have it. 1995 was my best competitive year, and given that […]

Commitments

Public Service Announcement: If you make a commitment to participate in something that's taken the organizer several months to put together, do not cancel two weeks ahead of time.

Crocs

Crocs cost $30? I just picked up two pair - fortunately with a good coupon at Dick's - and was amazed that they normally sell for $29.99. I've heard only good things though, so we'll see. Black XL and a small pair of blue ones, kid's choice. 🙂 {democracy:41}

Wonder what that looks like? Oh, about like this: Lake View Country Club, as seen from the clubhouse balcony by four stitched together iPhone photos.

Greg Norman, 53

Greg Norman, at the age of 53, nearly won the British Open. I kept a live blog for The Sand Trap, but wow. Is this what a Tiger-less world looks like? 53-year-olds nearly winning major championships?

Albert the Fish

For about a year now, we've had a small albino catfish in our fish tank, and for a year now he's acted as if he's been near death. He'll lie upside down on the bottom of the tank for hours. Or he'll lie pointing straight down. Or on his side. At times he'll go crazy […]

Drafts Folder Progess

11:19:56: My Drafts folder has 34 saved messages. 12:20:50: 15 messages await. Three were deleted, two or three new ones created (and sent), and the others sent. 12:53:54: 1 message left, and it's a message I can't send for a few days anyway (more of a reminder). So, woo, only about 90 minutes. 🙂

I'd have made this a poll, but I don't know what all of the options are, so I'll simply put the question here and let you post in the comments: What things have you done to lessen your negative impact on the environment? Switched to CFLs? Bought a hybrid? Drive less? Turn off lights and […]
