Observations can be found here.
Unfortunately, I played a golf course called "Alcoma" before going to the U.S. Open. Ugh is all I can say about that.

I've come to realize that the most screwed up thing about stupidity is that you simply cannot defeat it.

What are your WWDC predictions? I haven't got many, but I do suspect we'll see some of those "secret" features in 10.5 - including a new look.
I think the iPhone will be underplayed at WWDC because I think Apple will (wisely) hold off on releasing an SDK until they're sure they have the APIs down pat. To people clamoring for an SDK, I am reminded of a common consulting joke: you can have it on time, on budget, and fully featured - choose any two. I'd rather have a solid, stable, wonderful iPhone SDK/API in a year or two than a crappy one now.
P.S. I highly doubt that even when November rolls around and my last cell phone contract ends (Carey's parents' line) that I'll be able to get an iPhone. There's simply no AT&T or Cingular in Erie, PA. Grrrr… 🙂

The prednisone seems to have done the trick. I'm coughing less too, so perhaps I've had a month-long case of laryngitis that only recently fully manifested itself or the coughing just seems to have gone away. I cough a lot more when I talk, less when I'm just sitting here.
Carey's been dealing with adult onset allergies, she believes. Her throat and eyes haven't felt great for about a month. What recommendations does anyone have for OTC allergy medication? The usual "non-drowsy" yada yada stuff?

So, it appears I'll be playing hockey this winter. I've asked to be put in the "beginner's" league because, thus far, my hockey experience is limited to roller hockey in college (we were, as a team, really quite good). I can ice skate, but the last time I did so was about ten years ago. I'm going to have to learn to slide stop and do other things again.
The downside is, of course, purchasing all the equipment up front. Sure, if I play for five or six years, it's a one-time cost, but the gloves, helmet, etc. I have from roller hockey won't work on the ice. The other downside is that the league starts in September (September?!?!), which overlaps what may be the best part of golf season (June and September are close…). I was hoping the winter league would be, you know, more during the winter. January to March, say - so I'd have something active to do when I wasn't golfing.

Speaking of Whispering Woods, I played Wednesday and shot 76 there, easily the best round of the year. It was only the third time I'd played the back nine, and I'm starting to figure out some of the shots and yardages.
I played earlier in the morning with two friends for a course review, but was too close to the ball and my stance was too closed.
In the afternoon, I shot 37/39, hit 12/14 fairways, 61.1% of my greens, and got up and down only 2/6 times (there are the four bogeys). I had one penalty stroke (lateral hazard) and took 32 putts. The only putt I made over four feet all day was a birdie at the third after a weak chip to 15 feet. 😛 Hitting 11 greens, I should have made a lot more birdies than the one - including a four-footer at the 18th that somehow went right instead of left one or two balls.

Whispering Woods has dropped their rates. That didn't take very long.
2007 memberships now run $1,000 or $1,800 for a couple. Two-year memberships (2007 and 2008) run $1,800 and $3,400 - the previous 2007 rates (all current members have been extended the extra year).
Fees are now:

I took about 2000 pictures (and Ron took another 1000 or so) at this year's Memorial just outside Columbus, OH.
This year I focused primarily on taking pictures of the players. Last year I did a good bit of the course itself. The results can be seen in four posts at The Sand Trap:
My favorite shot? I don't have just one. But I do like this one…

I've tried to condition myself over the past few days to only talk when necessary. I've noticed, oddly, that if I'm not careful that attitude seems to pervade my instant messaging as well. I've caught myself a few times trying to be very short or use abbreviations when I normally wouldn't, as if typing less is the same as speaking less. 🙂
My laryngitis is worse today. More coughing, a hoarser voice, and a bigger tickling feeling in the back of my throat. I've gargled with warm salt water several times today, and taken the prednisone. Here's to hoping I can speak by about Friday.

Well, here you go!

Today, I went to my family doctor to see whether I had strep throat or something else. Turns out the doctor just believes I have laryngitis, which is fine. Gargle with salt, take some steroids, the usual.
I've had a light cough when I wake up or lay down in bed for the past month. I thought it had gone away two weeks ago, but it came roaring back this past week as I was out of town, got little sleep, and had a lot of physical stresses (lots of heat, bad eating schedule, lots of exercise).

81 songs with three complete albums: $18.30.
Update: Why the hell didn't iTunes maintain my ratings and play counts for the new versions? I now have 81 unrated, unplayed songs that - in my opinion - shouldn't be unrated or unplayed.
