I played golf today at my country club. They had temporary greens (duh), but I was surprised how little snow there was laying around. Usually that course holds snow longer than just about anywhere else in Erie county.
At any rate, I played to the temporary pins. Course played just about as long as usual because balls went about four inches into the ground, so even though the flags were 25 yards short of normal, the lack of roll on drives just about compensated for this.
I gave myself everything inside of five feet. I was going to give myself everything inside of six feet, but everything I hit was either eight feet or under five, so it ended up being five feet. I don't make every five footer, of course (though I'm pretty solid inside of three feet), but this rule also removes the possibility of me making a few putts over five feet per round, so I think it just about evens out.

What kind of screwy winter is this? I think we've had all of four or five days total with 6" or more snow sitting on the ground. We had a stretch of rainy 60° days in December and it's 60° outside right now. It's been one of the weakest, mildest, lamest, easiest winters I can remember.
If it weren't raining, I'd have gone golfing the past two days!
But as it stands, I'm simply left to wonder if we'll "pay" for this mild winter with a snow storm in April or May or something. 😛

Last night was the fifth (or sixth, or fourth, or who knows?) weekly pool night at the recently opened "Barzeski Billiards." Brandon and Ben came over at around 6. Brandon left early, but Ben and I hung around and played until 3am or so.
The pool table has settled just a bit - or wasn't 100% level to begin with - as the pockets on the north side of the table exhibit a little roll-off. In other words, a slow-rolled ball (very slow) will move about 1/2" over the length of the table. It probably needs lifted just the tiniest bit.

Since when? Emphasis added, but the quote comes right from this page:
Of course, Windows Vista is still Windows, and that means you can be far more productive with Vista than is possible with OS X, especially if you're a heavy keyboard user like me. Virtually all of the familiar Windows keyboard shortcuts work just fine in Vista, and since the system is basically laid out just like XP - with a familiar Start menu, taskbar, desktop, and folder structure, most users will be able to get right to work. That said, there are plenty of small changes too, some of which make sense, some that don't.
Huh? I say again: huh? That kind of drivel isn't even worthy of a response.

Yes, the first thing I thought of was the Fifth Element. Unfortunately, "multipass!" is Milla Jovovich's line, not Chris Tucker's. That's not all Ken Fisher gets wrong in his take on iTunes' new payment option. Specifically, the Multi-Pass is not a subscription, but simply a discount for volume purchases. Subscriptions end. Your rights to items purchased with a Multi-Pass continue beyond the date of the last download.

I just got a call from a woman who is interested in buying (on behalf of an unnamed company) "iacas.com." I got iacas.com a few years ago when it became available because "iacas" has been my screen name for over a decade on just about every system out there (AOL, forums, etc.). I bought "iacas.org" before iacas.com (when it was registered to someone else) and quickly used it as a dumping ground for things, all in the "/asm" directory (ha ha, get it? iacas.org/asm/? :-P), like pictures of my pool room and my cues-in-progress, or even just things I want to share with people like this logo on a golf ball.
Since I "am" for all intents and purposes "iacas" - google it and you'll see what I mean - I'm curious to know what the offer will be and eagerly await the email.

I'm involved today in a bit of a professional flame war. Rather, I'm being baited, but have thus far (and will continue to) resisted the wiggling worm with the buried hooks.
A blogger who disagrees with my opinion (and, the overwhelming majority of the time, the facts) on a certain topic essentially accused me of "selling out." He's said that my opinions - and the opinions of seven other individuals with whom I work - have been bought and paid for by another company simply because they advertise on the site.
This, despite the fact that my opinions were well formed prior to my first conversation with this company (regarding any topic!) and the clause in the advertising contract explicitly stating that advertisers have no impact whatsoever on site content.

Ever since I got my Cellular One phone number on May 11 of last year, nobody has been unable to send text messages to my phone via AIM. I could do so (and did so) frequently when I was using Cingular, but Cellular One regarded AIM messages as spam and thus rejected them.
I've tried to send myself messages once every few weeks since then. Yesterday they worked. Hip hip hooray!
Again, in case you're unaware, if you send a message via AIM to the "screen name" +1########## (where the #s are the ten-digit cell phone number), it will be sent as a text message if the person is using most cell carriers.

Question: Have you hacked or installed Front Row on your computer? Do you wish Apple would allow it installation on all computers?
My Answer: I have, though that was Front Row 1.0.1. I don't want to install 1.2.1 (directions here) because it disables your menu bar, and the work-around, though simple, is too much of a bother for me to care. I do wish Apple would release and support Front Row for all Macs, though my G5 couldn't use the remote nor would I buy something so it could, so I understand why Apple likely hasn't released it to the general masses (yet?).

I last bought a new mouse almost two three years ago to the day: March 1, 2003. Less than a week later I wrote about it again, saying that I "adored" it.
Well quite recently the left click on the old Logitech MX-700 that I had started to act up. It often would not remain "clicked" during drags and sometimes things like double-clicking would fail. Two Three years * 52 weeks/year * 40+ hours/week * 60 minutes/hour = probably well over one and a half million clicks. Not too bad.
I found the Logitech MX-1000 - the closest thing they sell to the venerable 700 - at Circuit City and picked one up. It'll take awhile to get used to the changes, but I've set the additional left/right buttons on the scroll wheel to move me through tabs in Safari and Adium. All other buttons remained the same and, quite nicely, the buttons map to the same things in USB Overdrive, so I didn't even have to change anything.
I'm hoping that the better location of the "app switcher" button will lead me to use Exposé more frequently.

Wow. Seems I can upgrade from Final Cut Pro 4 and Soundtrack Pro to Final Cut Studio (which includes Final Cut Pro 5, Motion 2, and DVD Studio Pro as new products for me) for only $199. I think I may just have to do that! I can find $199 somewhere around the house, and then I can play with Motion.

Question: How would you describe your personality as a child? Does it mirror the way you've grown up?
My Answer: According to my parents, I was a good kid… until my sister showed up, and their blatant favoritism and cynicism turned me against the world. 🙂 Joking… I was good until she showed up, butt the second part is a joke. Not completely, but mostly. I think…
Anyway, this question is more about a current kid in my life than me, but I'm curious how everyone out there may have changed in growing up.
