It's amazing what a little CSS support can do for iCab. Particularly for the way the FSS site appears. I'm particularly interested in iCab - I used it a while back and it has some nice features. Bringing it back to relevancy (it hasn't been since it fell behind the CSS curve, though it hung on to a few users) will only make Safari, OmniWeb, etc. better browsers.

The Steelers clinched homefield advantage throughout the playoffs today with a win over the pesky, annoying, and far-too-loudmouthed Baltimore Ravens. Bettis once again chipped in with 117 yards, Roethlisberger again had a solid start with two TDs, and the Steeler defense once again shut down the running game while playing soft to the pass.
The big news of the day will be the injury to Roethlisberger: Suggs had a personal foul on a TD pass to Tuman, driving Ben into the ground and injuring his ribs or sternum. With a "doesn't matter too much" game in Buffalo next week, the Steelers will probably rest Ben and let the old statue, Tommy Maddox, take the snaps. The Bills, meanwhile, will be fighting for their lives.
The story of the day? The complete and utter overestimation of Ray Lewis. The guy's over the hill and hasn't played very well for one or two years. The Steelers - and Bettis in particular - demonstrated that fact nicely today. Though Lewis was named to the Pro Bowl, it's a sentimental vote at best.
I'd type more about this, but, well… nobody comments on these, so who cares? 🙂 The Steelers play their next really meaningful game in three weeks, but I expect a good game in Buffalo next Sunday.

Question: What's the worst present you got this year?
My Answer: I got absolutely no bad presents this year. None, zip, zilch. However, in the interest of answering the question, let me think… I'm going to have to go with, uhhh… No, I really don't have anything. I had some standouts that were great, but there really is no "worst." I had a good Christmas. 🙂

Question: What's the best holiday present (Christmas, Hanukkah, birthday if those don't apply) you got this year?
My Answer: I got $1000 in office furniture for $200, so that was nice. The best present was the coat Carey got me - it fits well, looks good, and is comfortable. Has lots of pockets and should get me through this winter a little better. To say I don't have many clothes geared towards winter living is an understatement. 🙂

Question: Do you celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
My Answer: Or perhaps you don't celebrate it. My family has traditionally done it "on the day," but we also usually travelled and had Christmas two days before, and then two days afterwards as well (paternal grandparents -2, maternal grandmother, then our house +2).

Question: If you were hiring someone, what are the three most important qualities you seek? Assume that candidates are otherwise knowledgeable, as obviously "knowledge of the job area" is important.
My Answer: Integrity - this affects every aspect of business, from dealing with customers to peers and to doing what they say they will do. Communication - critical as well to all phases. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a broad range of people: customers, peers, managers, subordinates. Self-starting - I don't like people that are constantly "over-communicating" because they can't take a ball and run with it. Ask the important questions, but otherwise just do your job. Perhaps even going above and beyond what's necessary.

At least, I think this is clay. If I ever want to make a Freshly Squeezed clay orange, this is the site to see.

Question: What's your IQ score as determined by this silly test?
My Answer: I scored 152. I promise, no screaming silly thing will pop up or anything like that. If you do take the little test (I don't place much value on IQ scores, but, whatever), try to do so fairly: no pen or paper, etc. Don't fire up your computer's calculator or anything like that…

Living in Florida, Christmas never had any kind of hold on me. I lived in an area filled with Jewish people, so I couldn't even drive around to see houses decorated with lights. Christmas day was often 75°F. Nothing felt right. I even forgot that one day was Christmas - I woke up, wandered over to the computer, and wondered why nobody was online (AIM). Duh.
It's a bit different back here in Erie. There's snow, there are lights all over the place, and I'm around family. I've bought Christmas presents, have eaten the big Thanksgiving turkey, and the whole deal. I still don't particularly care for Christmas - I much prefer giving gifts "just because" and not "because it's Christmas" - but the people here in PA are at least nicer about things. You can wish folks a "Merry Christmas" without worrying that some nutjob working the counter at Sears will say "I'm Jewish, you prick" (true story).
I don't know how children in the southern states ever appreciate Christmas. It just doesn't "feel" right. Back here, I can safely say it's not because I've outgrown it, but simply because of the warmth. Growing up in the south, those children have a base different from my White-Christmas youth, but when what you're experiencing doesn't jive with the songs, the imagery, and the whole North Pole thing, I just don't know how you really get into it.
And don't get me started on the whole "bastardization of a religious holiday" stuff.

Question: What the hell does being gay have to do with getting a job?
My Answer: Hell if I know. I couldn't care less whether an employee of mine was gay or not, but just as I'd never hire a guy like Todd on the TV show Scrubs (think: overt sexual behavior, usually straight), I'd never hire a guy who felt the need to wave a rainbow flag in my face. Putting "I am gay" on a business card instead of, say, your phone number? Doesn't show a lot of common sense for a guy who "thinks about" "navigational issues." How do I navigate to your phone number? (It ain't on his home page, either.)

Question: If you could automate one thing in your life for free, what would you automate? Answers like "my job" or "making money" or whatever are not in the spirit of the question, so don't be a goober.
My Answer: I'd automate, uhhh, okay, TiVo already does that for me. Uhhh, no, my computer does those ten things. No, hmm, my debit/credit card does that. Uhhh, no, ok, my cell phone does that. I don't drink coffee, but even coffee pots do that these days. What the hell is left to automate? Lovemaking? Not sure that'd go over too well! Uhh, I'm gonna have to go with "grocery shopping." It'd be awesome if I could add things to a grocery list when I want and then have them delivered. And the nice thing is… you can do this in some places. Publix in Florida does it. Just nothing here in Erie.

Question: Time magazine just announced that George W. Bush is their "Man of the Year" for 2004. Who would you choose as second place, and why?
My Answer: I am choosing Ben Roethlisberger. 🙂 He's done quite nicely, and has had a far more immediate impact on my life than anyone else I can think of (and also care to "award"). How's that for just plain silly? I expect more intelligent answers than the one I've given from the rest of y'all. 😀

Eli Manning, thanks to what amounted to a crappy day for the Pittsburgh defense, didn't look like a rookie today. His 0.0 passer rating last week was replaced by a 16/23 effort for 182 yards, two TDs, and one INT. Big Ben managed to hit 18/28 for 316, one TD, and two horrible, despicable INTs. Antwaan Randle El had the best day at QB: 1/1, 10 yards, 1 TD on a tricky little shuffle pass.
The Steelers have, for the fifth week in a row now, squeaked out a win against an opponent they should have blasted. Granted, the Steelers have a lot of injuries, and Duce, Plaxico, Haggans, and others were out, figuring on an easy victory over the hapless Giants.

Question: What's your favorite application in the "costs more than fifty bucks" crowd? Why?
My Answer: BBEdit ranks up there, but that may be a ranking of familiarity and nothing else. Can Unreal Tournament 2004 be my answer? Heck, I don't have much software over $50. I like Photoshop, but it's pretty utilitarian for me (so is BBEdit, but Photoshop is not nearly as customizable). I like Final Cut Pro but never have reason to use it anymore, so… Uhhhh…
