Photon Now Open Source

Photon is now open source. I've written about Photon several times. Like here, and here, and here, and, lastly, here. In the last entry, when Photon was made free, I suggested that one of two things was likely to be happening: That a significant upddate (which I was told a month or two ago was […]

The Sand Trap .com Logos

The Sand Trap .com today introduced new logos, created by Mike Rohde of Rohdesign. Yes, this is the same talented Mike Rohde that crafted MailDrop 2.0's icons. The logos will be featured on the site, some apparel, and of course some business cards. I've been working on one main idea (see below). I like it, […]

I posted a "job" opening at The Sand Trap .com earlier today. If you like golf and love talking to some of the industry bigwigs, well, it may just be the position for you.

Brad Choate (yes, there's only one) spent some time with my "Error 500s with MovableType 3.2" issue yesterday and believes he's found the source of the problem: a low Apache Timeout value. Default used to be 1200, but that was recently lowered to 300. The timeout value Interland has set on my server? 5. A […]

This blog is now running MovableType 3.2. It - so far - is working beautifully. The Sand Trap is also "running" MovableType 3.2. It isn't working beautifully at all. In fact, it's not even really working. Since installing MT 3.2 on The Sand Trap, I've had HTTP 500 errors left and right when I rebuild […]

I have a list of 10 unordered links on a web page, where each links via href="#" and has an onClick that performs a function called changeText(). The changeText() function changes the "innerHTML" value of a div on the same page, replacing the text "Click one of the names above" with a bunch of HTML […]

SpamLookup in MovableType

With MovableType 3.2b4 (actually in an earlier nightly beta), SpamLookup is bundled in and makes use of the "feedback scoring" system to "junk" spamments. Thus far, the results are astounding: I've had one false negative and one false positive on top of about 11,000 spamments. Those are impressive results, and the darn thing (so far […]

This Blog: Now in Blue

Yes, the site is now blue instead of green. I can pretty quickly change the colors now because there is so little imagery, and I changed the font in the title while I was at it. I also added little "fades" to the comments. If you see anything green (after reloading your stylesheet) that should […]

Simple Viewer

SimpleViewer displays pictures nicely, along with some other features: Intelligent image pre-loading. Intuitive image navigation Lightweight (12k). Customizable interface - Set text color, frame color and width, navigation position. Resizable interface - Interface scales to fit browser window. Cross platform (requires Flash 6 or higher). Flash 6 detection. Users without Flash 6 are redirected to […]

I've not narrowed down the specifics of this bug, but it's affected me multiple times. The basics are this: I'm signed in to TypeKey via "keep me logged in" (for two weeks, supposedly). I visit this site and post a comment as a logged-in user (i.e. no name and email address text field in the […]

Good news: Implemented blog-level setting for basename length limit. (Weblogs that are upgraded to 3.2 are configured to use the previous default of 15 characters. New weblogs get a default setting of 30 characters.) I'm now satisfied. I had complained about this before.

Drunkey Love Icons

Get some nice 16 x 16 buttons here. Suitable for blogs, forums, and other such sites, these icons are free and cover a variety of things.

I've been corresponding with SixApart's "MTBugs" folks about one feature I'd like to see regarding the basename feature. Here's my latest exchange: I don't use ecto, so hopefully, my questions won't seem too strange taking that into consideration. How is this restriction causing you a problem with using ecto? Does it have to do with […]

Here's a bare-bones template for MovableType 3.2: http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/beta/3.2-indiv_archive_barebones.txt Safari renders the page as HTML despite the ".txt," so if you're looking at the template in Safari, have a look at the source. Firefox seems to display the page properly.

Varied-Spamcrazy

A website that starts with the word "varied-" and has the name of a popular card game after that (followed by .com) has been spamming this site like crazy for the past twelve hours. Luckily, they use only one URL, so I put them in the spam blocklist in SpamLookup (yes, it works in MovableType […]
