I downloaded and launched Yojimbo. I drug a URL from Safari to the "Bookmarks" section of the application. It utterly failed to recognize it. Then, after discovering that I had to drag it to the Library or the dock, I tried to encrypt it. It crashed.
Then, after re-launching and successfully encrypting something, I was able to delete that same thing without being prompted for a password. How about a lock functionality?
I turned off the Finder warning re: deleting items in the trash, so Yojimbo itself put up as much of a fight when it was being deleted itself. 😛
In other words, I just didn't see the point. It looks, upon first glance, as if it's trying to do too many things: a password archiver without the ability to automatically fill in passwords for you, a bookmark organizer with no browser integration, etc.

I've been getting a lot of ICQ spam lately. And it's not even spam: it's a bunch of German asking "hello" and "how are you" and so forth. No links - just mindless German babble. Worse yet, Adium can't seem to block the spammers. WTF?

Sad but true, according to Judi and the AP. At least now I can plan my budget for the complete series on DVD. I already have seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 (I think).
If Judi wants more Josh Malina, she should pick up the Sports Night DVDs. Inexpensive and very good and also from Aaron Sorkin.

Ben Roethlisberger is now 26-4 as a starter in the NFL. That's an 0.867 winning ratio. If Ben were a baseball team, he'd win 140 games per year. Basically, in a five-man rotation, the first four pitchers would win every game they started, and the fifth pitcher would win a few too!
Calling Plummer "Jake the Mistake" (or flake) does a disservice to the masterful game plan the Steelers called and executed. The Steelers forced Jake to make the mistakes - with pressure and by putting Denver in a massive 17-3 hole in the first half. I've disliked Cowher for years - for good reason - but Ben and his winning skill seem to have forced Cowher around a corner. No longer is it "run, run, run and if that doesn't work run some more." Cowher still turtles a little - the prevent defense let the Doncos score 14 points in the second half, almost making a game of it - but when you're up by 21 I'll allow a little turtling.

Today I used GarageBand to produce episode 10 of the Golf Talk Podcast over at The Sand Trap.
My routine is as follows:
- Use Audio Hijack Pro and Skype to record audio.
- Reduce noise and pops/clicks in Soundtrack Pro (STP).
- Remove silence, bad jokes, "uhms" and "wells" and other crap in STP.
- Add in commercials, intros/outros, and other segments in STP.
- Export as AIFF from STP.
- Bring into GarageBand to add artwork.
- Export as AAC (.m4a) file for podcast.
Unfortunately, to hear the podcast in iTunes, I have to turn the volume waaaaaaaay up. I typically listen to my music at volume 7 (out of 100, and with my system volume at 50%). To hear the podcast, I have to turn the volume up to 85 or more.

I may have come up with a solution to my black dry-erase board dilemma. I bought two 18" x 24" pieces of clear plexiglass today (two in case I mess one up). I found some 8/32" two-way screws, which is the right size for standard cabinet door pulls.
So, I'll put the screws 16" apart in the studs (through the drywall), drill small holes in the four corners of the plexiglass, and secure it to the wall with the cabinet pulls. When I want to remove it, I can unscrew the pulls and slide the plexiglass off.

5667 properties were bought and sold in Erie in 2005 for a total of $628,407,507. Carey and I bought a house in May. Though we account for only 0.0176% of the properties purchased, we account for 0.0306% of the cost of those properties. Average property price: $110,888.92. So, we paid roughly 75% more than the average.
And even still, the mortgage payment is about $50 more per month than the rent I paid for a 700 square foot apartment in Florida (for three times the space plus a garage and a basement).

Roz Ho comes on to the Macworld Expo keynote stage at about 1:12 (hours:minutes) in, and man is she the opposite of Steve or what? Holy cow. She's… just… bad!

Apparently I should talk about mesothelioma, mesothelioma attorneys and lawyers, and asbestos a lot more frequently. Why? They pay well.
Seriously? I guess so.

Steve was right: Sony's consumer HD camera is under $1600. In fact, it's under $1500. Pretty amazing.

If you're writing a book, you can predict how well it will sell based on the title alone at Lulu Titlescorer. FWIW, a book named "Erik Knows All" has only a 14.6% chance of being a best-seller.

I've removed the following folders from my iPhoto '06 folder (~/Library/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library) and it seems to work just fine:
2002/
2003/
2004/
2005/
2006/
iPhotoLock.data
Library.cache
Library.data
Library.iPhoto
Nearly all of the year folders had nothing in them except a few Data folders filled with things like "795" and "795.attr." I deleted those. The other files haven't been touched since the 14th, which was the day I installed iPhoto '06. I've since used iPhoto (importing, renaming, etc.) files, so I must conclude that they aren't useful.
My question is this: why weren't these files and folders automatically deleted by iPhoto?
