For example, I have about 14 friends who, when they post on their blogs, have the same expectation that their friends will have read the post as if they had sent the post in email to the friends. While skimming through the roughly 400 posts a day, it would be nice if I had this 'must' list so I could stay in low gear in one folder, then return to 'skim' gear for the rest.
Sounds like a job for PulpFiction.

By the way, there may or may not be a slight bump in "Apple coverage" here in the coming weeks given that they're no longer my employer. 🙂 Ahhhh, the beach! How I missed thee!

My typical response to the whole "dating" thing: I haven't got time. Today I had at least enough time to take a break from editing the book to take some dating quizzes. They were an… interesting distraction. End result: I'm a smart guy who's got high standards but prefers intelligent, 25-year-old brunettes. Duh.

Question: Match.com asks you to choose among the following choices when picking your "ideal date." Which would you choose?
My Answer: I'll list the answers in the extended entry. I will say that they were missing the best choice: "Good Company: doing anything so long as it's with someone who's unique and cool." I don't care if that's a walk on the beach or a day at a baseball game. It's the company that matters.

Question: What monthly payment do you hate making most?
My Answer: My scooter payment. I need to sell my scooter for a small profit, pay this off, and apply the rest of the money to something else. I rarely get out on the scooter anymore. Anyone want a $2500 scooter with less than 500 km on it for $1250?

Even though MacAddict may have not recognized the pretty permanent price reduction (to $9), but we're happy nonetheless to receive the ink. They say no press is bad press, but this is definitely good press. 🙂

Apologies for the large scan. Kinda makes the page look funny, I know.

PulpFiction: I've mentioned this application several times. I've displayed its icons. I've joked about it. I've hinted at it. It's been listed on the Freshly Squeezed Software site since before the introduction of Rock Star. I could claim I've been trying to build a buzz, but in reality, we've just been taking our time getting it done. 🙂
Originally intended to be released October 24 (does that date ring a bell?), I can now announce that PulpFiction should be out on May 15. Beta testing will begin May 1. The price will be set sometime between those two dates. Almost all of our features are done - we're bug-squashing and internally beta testing.

Question: Have ya ever smoked pot? And don't give me any "I didn't inhale" jokes either.
My Answer: Ummm, nope.

Are there any WebObjects developers in South Florida? Are there any available WebObjects developers in South Florida?
I can't say much about the possible plans right now, but needless to say from what I've written above, I'm putting out a feeler right now to see if there's anyone around. I may need them soon (in the next four months) for ongoing employment (i.e. not a two-month gig).
Don't send résumés or anything. This is the earliest of feelers. It may go nowhere.

On April 5, eSellerate launched a new service: eSellerate Download Service (or eDS):
Customers purchase eDS for $4.99 per order, which locks in the download guarantee for one year. You receive $1 of the eDS sale amount.
eDS is, by default, "opt out." Every time someone clicks "Buy Now" on our site, a $4.99 charge is added to their bill. They can remove it, and I can change this policy to opt-in (I've since done so).
I'm not sure whether I like this option or not. Do I leave it on, potentially netting us $1/sale but also potentially scaring customers away ("I thought FTPeel was $19?!") xor (heh heh) do I turn this feature off, allowing only those customers who seek out eDS to purchase it? What real benefit does eDS offer when FSS uses the same application for both demos and registered copies?
Since its introduction on April 5, over 50% of our customers have purchased eDS.
P.S. Rosyna has thoughts too. We had a conversation today and both turned it off at about the same time. They're seeing an attach rate at around 90%!

From a conversation I had today:
erik: do you see a page or an error?
andy: nope
erik: do you see a page xor an error?
Friends always look at me oddly when they say "do you want to see a movie or go out to eat?" and I reply "yes." I try to explain to them what the exclusive or, or "xor," is, but they glass over. Needless to say, sometimes I use it. 🙂

Yay!
Congratulations. The taxing authority accepted this tax return on Apr. 13, 2004. Your DCN is (removed). TurboTax will now help you complete any follow-up paperwork that is necessary.
I'm done. 🙂

Question: Which rumor do you wish was actually true?
My Answer: I've left this open-ended, though I expect most answers will deal with Mac-related things. I haven't got any rumors I wish to be true. I don't need a PDA. I don't need a new portable. I don't need a new display. I don't need Apple-branded cars or Segways. I don't need Sony or Disney to buy any other companies. I'm happy with the way things are.
