Question: Can money make you happy?
My Answer: Though this study says otherwise, I disagree. I think that though money may not make you happy, it can relieve a lot of stress. Paying bills is a pain. Give me $5000/month for doing nothing and I won't have the stress of paying bills. I'd live in exactly the same place and fish a lot more often. Too much money, though, and I might think about buying a fancy place, a new car, and so on, and what would that do? Reintroduce bills. Bills I had to worry about covering next month. Stress. Stress is not the anti-happy, but it's one of 'em.

You know those streaky, puffy clouds left by airplanes? Bet you thought they were harmless, huh? Apparently they're not! They're called "chemtrails" and they're actually government spy planes spraying us with chemicals!
Uh huh.
The page is funny, largely because the people on it are so stupid, gullible, or fanatical that you just know you couldn't win any argument against them with any amount of reason, logic, or proof. Ho hum.

Question: Have you decorated for (insert your December holiday, if any, here)?
My Answer: No. I live alone, and when my parents come to visit on the 27th, I'll tell them I took down all of the decorations on the 26th. After all, Christmas is over then, right? But my, it was fabulous!

Stupid Survivor Poll on cbs.com:
Should Burton have taken Jon on the Reward?
a) Aye, they're mates
b) Nay, he should've buttered up the ladies
c) It may have been his undoing
Could someone explain to me how I'm supposed to choose between B and C?

I've made my decision re: Cocoa Dev Central, and I've decided to give the site to Scott Stevenson. He and I have known each other for about six years now, and we keep bumping into each other. We're active and somewhat public Mac users - it's bound to happen. Scott's a great guy with a solid sense of design and great sensibilities. He'll do well with Cocoa Dev Central. His ideas are nice, and his ambition is refreshing. The transition will be bumpy, I'm sure, but Cocoa Dev Central isn't going anywhere.
Need some idea how Scott thinks? Read his take on writing technical articles.

Tuesday I'm going to spend a few hours looking through JDD's new (upcoming) book Running Mac OS X Panther. It aims to be an advanced book that doesn't waste time telling you how to set your desktop pattern. I'm looking forward to it - hopefully it can give me some tips on how to improve some things I do frequently, recommend some good third-party apps I may have overlooked, and that sort of thing. If you're curious, here's a site for it already.

Question: How messy or clean is your apartment or home?
My Answer: Currently my apartment is VERY messy, which sucks. When I was strictly a freelance guy, my apartment was spotless. Now that I only have 8 waking hours a day or so of free time (not counting driving to/from work, showering, etc.) and most of that is spent writing software, email, this blog, or watching West Wing, my apartment has gone to hell. I use one of my two days off each week to clean up, but the recent bathtub adventure has not helped me there. I need to just clean up once and then keep it that way, not being lazy when I get home with bags of goodies I've purchased, mail I picked up, and empty cans of Coke (which tend to accumulate on my computer desk).

Another PulpFiction icon, another rejection. I'm beginning to feel bad for our icon designer, but he's a big boy, and he can take it. I'm not sure what's up with this one. It seems to combine the worst elements of previous icons. I blame myself: I apparently wasn't very clear. Instead, I've given the icon guy a few more ideas. Here's the email I sent him (with a few choice bits removed).*

Question: Have you ever slapped anyone? Been slapped?
My Answer: No, and no. Not in the violent way. Sometimes in the playful way a woman will slap you when you say something silly or slighty sarcastic. I've never been one to walk up to a woman and say something that gets me slapped, and frankly, I haven't known many guys to do much slapping.

She's quickly climbing my list. Very much adorable. Kind of odd seeing a 20-year old play a 16-year old, but such is life in Hollywood. But, ack, as I was sitting at the car dealer a week or two ago I read in People that she's living with her boyfriend of three years, so there goes that idea. What idea, I don't know, because it's not like I'll ever meet Ms. Tamblyn anyway, and if I did I probably would mutter "hi" and move along.
But, anyway, she looks like the kind of gal who would look good without make-up, waking up next to you for a few decades. That's the kind of gal I like. The "looks good without makeup" kind.

It's great to have reviews of your software. It's better yet to have reviews of software in a language you understand. Fortunately, je parle un peu français! Yes, a Booklet review in French. They've gotten the price confused with iWipe at $14 (it's $8), but that's an easy one to fix.
P.S. Translated to English via Google.

Question: Have you ever over-filled your bathtub?
My Answer: Nope. Well, until about 15 minutes ago. 45 minutes after I started running the water. That little drain near the rim can only keep up for so long, I tell ya!

Question: Who will win this season of Survivor?
My Answer: I'm going to go with Darrah. I have no idea why. She's quietly slipping through and winning a lot of immunities. Lil has to go soon. Jon either will win or will not win (big time either way). Burton is a threat, and Sandra has a lot of enemies right now. I dunno, though. Get your vote in before Sunday. (Can you tell I've not yet watched tonight's episode? I'm going to go do that now).

100 bounces to remove from our mailing list. A few hundred iChem registrations to send out to customers who bought iChem 1.0 through 1.2 (1.3 uses a new registration scheme). A quick fix to iChem 1.3 (reposted) because things like "H2O" wouldn't calculate. A bug found in MailDrop 1.3 that seems to prevent some people from opening mailings on 10.2.8. We'll be fixing that one soon. Booklet's working well, BackLight is working well, and FTPeel is working well. Oh, we had a broken link earlier today too, but someone pointed it out and we changed it (in our Support section).
To those wondering about Cocoa Dev Central, I should have news for you in a day or two.

Tonight saw the updating of several of Freshly Squeezed Software's products:
- FTPeel was updated to version 1.1b1 with SFTP and FTP-SSL support.
- MailDrop was updated to version 1.3 with WebKit support.
- iChem was updated to version 1.3 with Panther support.
- Booklet was updated to version 1.2 with Panther support.
- BackLight was updated to version 2.0 with Panther support.
- The site itself was updated to version 2.0 with XHTML 1.1/CSS 2.0 and standards support. 🙂
Of course, those are the biggest things. BackLight, FTPeel, MailDrop, iChem, and Booklet each have some nice new features too. Have a look and let me know what you think! I'm still not 100% pleased with the site (green links on the left aren't very visible, I think, but they look bad as orange links on the FAQ page), but the site is currently my favorite of all the ones I've done.
