A few days ago, I held a little contest to try to find a great slogan for PulpFiction. Well, 94 responses later, I've got the list here. It's in the extended entry if you want to have a peek. I'll post results, uhh, when I have them. For now, uhh, enjoy!

PulpFiction needs a slogan. Suggest them here in the comments. If yours is the best, you get a free copy. Beta testers who would otherwise be eligible for a free copy get a free copy of Rock Star. To help you along, here are the slogans for some of our other products: FTPeel: Simply Powerful […]

This entry led me to one on kottke.org: PulpFiction (expect a letter from Miramax soon) looks to do everything a modern newsreader should do (Love the filters. Every single app in the world should save all data it ever sees, data about that data, and have ways to filter and search it.) I don't think […]

PulpFiction has received a largely positive response. I'm always amused by this type of thing because, well, the darn thing ain't out yet! However, not all responses are positive. Let's have a look at a skeptic's thoughts…

For example, I have about 14 friends who, when they post on their blogs, have the same expectation that their friends will have read the post as if they had sent the post in email to the friends. While skimming through the roughly 400 posts a day, it would be nice if I had this […]

Even though MacAddict may have not recognized the pretty permanent price reduction (to $9), but we're happy nonetheless to receive the ink. They say no press is bad press, but this is definitely good press. 🙂 Apologies for the large scan. Kinda makes the page look funny, I know.

PulpFiction

PulpFiction: I've mentioned this application several times. I've displayed its icons. I've joked about it. I've hinted at it. It's been listed on the Freshly Squeezed Software site since before the introduction of Rock Star. I could claim I've been trying to build a buzz, but in reality, we've just been taking our time getting […]

eDS

On April 5, eSellerate launched a new service: eSellerate Download Service (or eDS): Customers purchase eDS for $4.99 per order, which locks in the download guarantee for one year. You receive $1 of the eDS sale amount. eDS is, by default, "opt out." Every time someone clicks "Buy Now" on our site, a $4.99 charge […]

I think it's funny that I've been labelled an "old timer fascist" by someone who's too cowardly to post a real name. On Slashdot, of all places. Some facts, as always, are in order: I've never moderated cocoa-dev. Hell, I haven't even posted in months. I did moderate my own Cocoa-Pro list, but never banned […]

Fun with Memory!

Fun with memory! *** malloc: vm_allocate(size=1069056) failed (error code=3) *** malloc[7732]: error: Can't allocate region PulpFiction has exited due to signal 10 (SIGBUS). This is what happens when you attempt to process a 9.2 MB file without an autorelease pool inside your processing loop. Wheeee!

Rock Star has been named (or will be named) MacAddict's "Shareware of the Month." To celebrate, we've dropped Rock Star's price to $9 (from $14)! We'll probably run this price for awhile, but we're not sure when we'll end the special - perhaps when the May 2004 issue of MacAddict hits store shelves in a […]

SIF Files

Does the Mac community really make use of SIF files? Should I bother to create a SIF file for each of FSS' products? Does anyone other than "REALQualityMac" use them? It'd be nifty if VersionTracker and/or MacUpdate did, I suppose… but they don't.

I own a software company. In two places - at the time of purchase and when the license agreement comes up - we state that we don't offer refunds and that we don't warrant or guarantee that the software will do anything of any consequence. Pretty standard disclaimers, really. Boilerplate. Occasionally, a customer asks us […]

Betas

Joel has some thoughts on beta testing. Of course, as is usual with Joel, his advice is only good in small percentages. About 15% of that article is useful to me - 1500 beta testers? Pshaw, it'd be great to have 1500 users sometimes! We're a small company, after all, and while Fog Creek is […]

MacTech Renewal

Today I received a renewal notice for MacTech. I won't be renewing because I don't care about QuickTime development much. I don't care about REALbasic development. I don't care about Carbon development (too much). These topics - especially the first - typically comprise about 80% of the magazine's content. I also got $13.86 from the […]
