No, Apple has not suddenly added the "over the wire" synching, but I believe we may once again be exploring the possibility of doing Scorecard for the iPhone. If we do it, it'll likely be over WiFi, and I'm still not certain how many users that will cut out, but I suppose they can always use the "current" way of entering scores.
The UI design is fairly simple, and most likely since we'll be adding networking capabilities to the app itself, this will be version 1.5. We still plan to get 1.4 out the door with some new stats next week, so 1.5 may take a month or two. We shall see - more details forthcoming.

Starting on Monday, I'm going to be running the EDGA Junior Match Play tournament. I'll be around to help decide rulings, to make sure the kids know who plays who (and when), and so on.
One of the kids I've been working with has seen a lot of his swing changes come together recently, and he's starting to play really well. I'm hopeful that he can keep his mind in check and play solidly.
Only about 32 players are entered, so the "qualifier" will only determine seeding, with players ranked 17-32 not even being eligible for the total prize. They'll compete in a second-bracket - and that's something I hope can be changed next year.

What's up with btinternet.com customers never getting the same darn IP address. Sure makes it tough to ban the occasional idiot in a forum without banning half of the rest of the UK.
Here in the U.S., most people with DSL and cable seem to get the same IP address. Unless they're offline for a week or longer, that is. I've had the same IP address for quite awhile (it changed a few months back when Time Warner re-did their network). BT customers get a new IP address several times per day, it seems.
A user told me they can request - and get - a static IP, but it costs extra. That doesn't help me at all. 😛

Scorecard is getting updated to version 1.4 in the next few weeks. New stats include some putting stats, a few small bug fixes, and some more putting stats. We're also adding penalties and "total distance of putts made" to the "Best vs. Worst" table.
We're also re-considering our stance on iPhone development: we may just say "if you don't have WiFi, sorry, but you're out of luck" and develop the app. We're also planning to charge (a little) for the iPhone app, even if it'll just keep your stats and sync to your computer. After the Rivet and Scorecard updates, that'll be the focus of most of our development efforts in July.
Cyndicate updates? We have a few in mind, and they'll get time when we want a break from the above. 🙂

Several people on the Cynical Peak forums have asked for Rivet to run as a system-level service so that they can access their media when they're logged out.
There are a few problems with that request, not the least of which are:
- Whose iTunes and iPhoto libraries do you parse when nobody's logged in?
- How do you change preferences when nobody's logged in?
- What about permissions issues? Do you really want Rivet running as root? Not likely.
There are other concerns as well, but those are the biggies. For the time being, Rivet will remain an application (in the menu bar). Just make use of fast user switching or even hop back to the login screen if you need to.
P.S. Rivet 1.1 is in the works and has undergone not one but two major networking overhauls to make it work with even more of the funkier setups we've seen from users. Current projection is to have 1.1 in beta in a few days, and released the last week of June.

This one's a bit more general than the one from a few days ago, as I hear people in real life saying it, too: "I could care less."
If you could care less, that means you care! Try "I couldn't care less" next time, okay?

I'm kinda ticked, and part of me doubts it's only 1% of the customers. Other responses are here.

Frankly, I'm not sure what you call it, but I'm talking about the fly, the flap, the opening, the hole, the "split," or whatever that's found on the front of men's underwear. The purpose is to allow you to pull out your junk to take a leak without having to push your underwear down, but who does this? Doesn't everyone just push the underwear - be it boxers or briefs (or boxer-briefs) down and pee "over the top" of their underwear? I do. Always have.
So I ask you:

"rediculous" is not a word. Not in the English language, anyway.
What I wouldn't give to have every browser put red dotted lines under mis-spelled words like Safari does, along with people who care enough to pay attention to them.

Right now, I'm not getting a DirecTV signal, or at least not one strong enough to show more than the occasional blip of a picture.
I'm writing this because, despite living in Florida (heavy thunderstorms) and Erie, PA (oftentimes some pretty thick cloud cover, snow, and some bigger thunderstorms), I've lost signal due to weather only three times - and one of those times I simply brushed the foot of icy, slushy snow off of the dish to return the signal. Both of the other times, the signal returned inside of an hour.
People seem to think that satellite television gets lost due to weather far more frequently than I've found to be the case. Knock on wood.

On July 11, I'm going to contemplate picking up a 3G iPhone (or more likely, when they are available at Apple's online store). It will depend on whether the wife wants the "old" iPhone I have now or not. If she does not, I have no problem keeping it: we don't have 3G in the area, I almost never need GPS, and the software will be largely the same.
So we'll see. Either way, we're going to lop $20 off of our voice minutes plan. We simply have too many.

/me installs. And I think that's about all I can say about that.
Update: Can I say it's nice? And fast? And 1Password is already updated to work with it?

I don't wanna activate in a store.
I don't wanna pay more for 3G if I live in an area without 3G.
I don't wanna pay extra for text messages. I mean, c'mon.

I'm sorry, but $4 for two small scoops of ice cream and a tiny bit of "mixed-in" candy is a rip-off.
FAIL.

Are you planning to watch the U.S. Open? It's in "prime time" this weekend, though the most exciting golf might be played Thursday and Friday when Tiger Woods plays with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott.
