Question: What is your favorite activity?
My Answer: Playing golf. When I can't do that, I enjoy writing about golf. Of course, I prefer anything that involves Carey more, even if it's just watching a movie, but for my own sake I've defined activity as more a physical activity and not simply anything you "do." And I do try to keep this blog somewhat PG, so, yeah, my favorite physical activity is golf. 😉

So, apparently, the titmouse is a bird and not a mouse at all.
You know people are gonna call that nub the nipple. It's just bound to happen. You can't avoid the inevitable.

They say that getting married and buying a house are some of the most stressful things you can do. Carey and I eliminated the stress in getting married by doing it on the cheap and easy, but we knew that the whole "find a house, buy a house, move in, take care of a house" process would be a bear.
It hasn't been.

The dog park I mentioned back here is still not open. It really makes me re-consider doing this.

Question: What do you think of the Mighty Mouse?
My Answer: I like it. If it would optionally come standard on the pro models, that'd be great. It won't make me give up my Logitech MX-700, though. I have too many buttons programmed for too many different applications, and I rarely - if ever - need to scroll sideways.

I've signed up with O'Reilly Connections. If you'd like to do add me as a "connection," go ahead and do so. The five people I tried to locate weren't on the service yet.

Question: What is your favorite carnival/festival/fair food?
My Answer: Elephant ears (my grandma calls them "dough babies"). Funnel cake is a close second.

Question: How many keys do you have on your keychain? Do you need them all?
My Answer: Only five. Two are for the cars, one is for the house, one is for my locker at Lake View, and the last… I'm not sure what it is, but I'll know it when I need to use it. Or in about 30 minutes when it comes to me. Hmmmmm…

Last night, at 4am, I awoke and heard a weird noise that sounded a bit like Little One hitting her baby doll's head against her crib. I woke Carey up and the noise happened two more times, then stopped. I was content to lock the door and go back to sleep, but Carey had me fetch my 9mm and investigate the house. Turns out there was nothing wrong, but she had left the back French door unlocked.
So today, after we get back from a wedding reception for her friend Jen, I'll be doing two things: investigating the cost of a home security system (something that sounded an alarm when windows or doors were opened would be sufficient, I imagine, and maybe a motion-sensing light or two) and setting up the gun safe in the bedroom. Ho hum.
Incidentally, the noises occurred again at about 9am, and they seemed to be coming from outside. Perhaps the air conditioner was making some funny noises.

Question: Do you have any posters in your bedroom or office? If yes, of what?
My Answer: I've cut back since my college and bachelor days, of course, but I do keep my 1984 hammer-runner-lady-with-iPod poster in my office, and I have a large hanging iBook poster (cloth, 2' x 8') from a New York Macworld Expo hanging up as well. And thassit. The rest are in my closet in tubes or in frames (my six Think Different posters remain in simple black frames).

I've been corresponding with SixApart's "MTBugs" folks about one feature I'd like to see regarding the basename feature. Here's my latest exchange:
I don't use ecto, so hopefully, my questions won't seem too strange taking that into consideration.
How is this restriction causing you a problem with using ecto? Does it have to do with the URLS being generated on your published files?
It really isn't an ecto-specific problem. But because I use ecto, the problem is exacerbated… I'll attempt to re-state the issue for more clarity.
Prior to MovableType 3.2, I used to "dirify" all of my entries. My URLs were/are like this: archives/YYYY/MM/DD/dirified_title_goes_here.php

Question: Steven Frank has (had?) a fear of flying. It's got me wondering: what is your biggest phobia? Or are you phobia-free?
My Answer: I don't have any phobias, per se. That's not said to brag (I'm as screwed up as anyone, just in different areas I suppose), but in honestly looking at things I can't say I have a phobia. The common ones are no problem - snakes, spiders, heights, commitment (ha ha). I'm not afraid of pianos or vaginas with teeth (that's a real one) or telephones.

Here's a bare-bones template for MovableType 3.2:
http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/beta/3.2-indiv_archive_barebones.txt
Safari renders the page as HTML despite the ".txt," so if you're looking at the template in Safari, have a look at the source. Firefox seems to display the page properly.

Mike says in his post Lemieux Gardens:
ESPN's John Buccigross has a great column here about some steps the Penguins should take and some players who should sign with them. All are good ideas.
The more I think about it the happier I am hockey's coming back. I missed watching games on long winter nights and I'm looking forward to maybe catching a game at the Civic Mellon Arena.
I agree. The ESPN column, in case you missed it, is here.
