So I don't ever lose the damn link again, it's this one. Go there to make AOL Instant Messages (AIM) go to your cell or mobile phone (or turn them off). Have I used enough keywords so I can find this one quickly the next time? AIM mobile cell phone AOL forward text message. That should do it. 🙂
P.S. I want one of these for my birthday. You can send one to me at 500 N. Congres…

Question: What's the worst thing you've ever done to cause a breakup (perhaps between someone you wanted to date and "that other person")?
My Answer: Nothing, really. As much as I might like to date someone, I figure they wouldn't want to date me if I caused a breakup. No, sir. I'm too familiar with the friend zone.

Question: Do you steal cable (or satellite service, etc.)? Have you ever?
My Answer: No and no. I'm surprised at how many of my friends do, however.

I have been wanting a Tarpon 140 for awhile now, and Friday I was finally able to snag one. These boats weren't introduced when I bought my Tarpon 120, but the 140 has a bit more room (obviously) and I was able to get it in a very nice shade of yellow:
Yellow will help boaters see me, and as a fan of Pittsburgh baseball, football, and hockey teams, the yellow/black theme is one with which I'm very comfortable. 🙂

Awhile ago I helped Judi with a vCard/PHP problem. Someone requested the source code, so here it is as a web app (the email goes nowhere, so don't send use this) and as source code.
The trick is a very simple one: vCards are just plain text with some specialized formatting. I've used this same trick to send files as ".xls" files. You can't format the text, but double-clicking the tab-delimited .xls attachments opens them in Excel.
Use this or any modification as you see fit. Please give credit where credit is due.

Today I received a renewal notice for MacTech. I won't be renewing because I don't care about QuickTime development much. I don't care about REALbasic development. I don't care about Carbon development (too much). These topics - especially the first - typically comprise about 80% of the magazine's content.
I also got $13.86 from the CD antitrust litigation settlement. I filed my claim at www.musiccdsettlement.com I believe. I have to cash the check by May 20, 2004. Hey, it's $13.86 I didn't have before! I got a Kagi payment too… probably the last I'll ever receive from them as iChem is now part of FSS. $52.50 + $13.86 = a fun evening for me and the lady of my choosing. A cheap, but fun evening. 🙂

So, it seems to me that with a level of 3, a great many people have trouble breaking 20,000 points. The Rock Star high scores list really only has three names on it: Jeff Linakis, myself, and "DAE."
What gives, people? Are none of you shamed into competing for higher scores? No wonder very few people display their rankings with the Rock Star For Your Blog code. You're all ashamed that you can't break 20,000!
C'mon, people! Buck up! Score some points! Win win win! 😀

Today I swapped out my existing black pro keyboard for one I found in my closet. Typing on this thing is as close to typing nirvana as I can dream possible. It's soft yet responsive. Quiet. It's great. What more could I ask for from a keyboard? The old one is great too - but started to get a little stiff on some of the lower keys (which aren't always struck straight down - I don't hover my wrists when I type).
Aside from the old Apple keyboards, the large beige ones, these are the best keyboards ever. Ever! I've made reacquaintances with this one, and it's a joyful turn of events for all! 🙂
I knew cleaning benefits beyond being able to find the remote controls!

Question: What's the best movie you've seen in the past week?
My Answer: I liked Miracle a great deal. Not exactly a date movie, but there was a "dashing and debonaire" comment that got some chuckles from a female friend and myself (inside joke I guess). Plus, hey, a chick that likes hockey? That's better than any date movie. Anyway, I continue to have cheap or lazy friends, so I haven't seen nearly the number of movies i'd like to see this year.

Question: Does your phone have a camera?
My Answer: Nope. When I get my darn v600 it will though, darnit!

Question: How often do you play Devil's Advocate?
My Answer: Fairly frequently. I'm a firm believer that you don't truly know something until you can argue it from either side of the fence. Sometimes, I'll let people paint me a certain way (or try to get me to support an argument that may not necessarily be my stance) just to see if I can support it. It's fun, and it's good exercise for the mind.

Question: Do you have any sexual fetishes?
My Answer: Not really. I don't have strong feelings towards anything except most of the bizarre, way out of this world stuff, and those feelings are more along the lines of "not for me" than anything else. I don't obsess over any one part of a woman, I'm not exceedingly fond of any particular material, style of dress, etc. I like brunettes, but that's no fetish last time I checked, merely a preference.

Question: Is obesity a disease?
My Answer: Said Jim Carrey in a Playboy interview (March 2004):
Playboy: But you're a wealthy movie star - you're in a position to deny yourself comforts. Most people don't have that many comforts to begin with. They have overdue bills and abusive bosses.
Carrey: That's denial man. That's like obese people lobbying to call their situation a disease. I don't believe it. God bless obese people, but they've got work to do.
My opinion is very similar. While it remains true that some glandular diseases can cause obesity, 80% of this country does not have glandular diseases. I think that a sloppy body is the sign of a sloppy mind. Jim says it well: "they've got work to do."

For some time now my Go menu has looked like this:
I have no idea why the "iDisk" and "Network" menu items are disabled. My permissions are correct. My iDisk is permanently mounted and synchronized, but it'd be nice to be able to choose "Someone Else's Public Folder" (or whatever it's called). What gives? How can this be fixed? I'm not running any software that should affect this, and searches for "dimmed go menu items Mac OS X" turn up nothing helpful.
Any ideas?

Wowee! You can purchase 51 live not-available-in-stores songs (over 7 hours of music) from Widespread Panic's sold-out year-end concert for only $14.99! Awesome!
My (more-than-) friend Kate in Georgia is a huge WSP fan. I picked up every one of these songs for myself, and for her as well. That reminds me: I should call her. I miss her. The more I think about one I think about the other. Oy.
Back to Widespread Panic, though. I've listened to a few songs in Kate's bedroom once, and haven't heard much of them since. I'll give them a good listen in the next few days, though. What do you think of them? Anyone?
