In the past few hours, MovableType has logged a number of searches for "archives/imgs/fonts_panel_****up.gif". Bear in mind that my 404 page automatically searches for things (allowing me to type, for example, http://nslog.com/clay aiken and see the results.

Thing is, the image is located at archives/imgs/fonts_panel_fuckup.gif. I guess someone's filtering software is going crazy? Fine. But nearly 100 times in the past 10 hours? No idea.

I'll be a bit shorter this week, I think. Today I'm preparing my taxes. Joy. 🙁 As you'll see, this week can best be described in one word: Lame.

Christy was shocked at Heidi's turning, but not upset? Lame. Roger responds to Christy's question about "why Jeanne and not me?" Dave is upset with the answer, because that's not why she was picked. Dave, man, you just aren't playing the game. The next day, Heidi and Christy are set aside as all three guys wander off to fish. Still separated? We'll see. The guys may be playing the girls after all.

I have certain pals, let's name them Gabe and Daria, who are married and live near to me. I've been pals with them for quite some time now, six or seven years really, though until the past two years I hadn't really spent much time with them. They were an Internet pal-ship, and Daria was my PR person for my e-zine Apple Wizards.

The man who invented the Internet has joined Apple!

CUPERTINO, California - March 19, 2003 - Apple® today announced that Albert Gore Jr., the former Vice President of the United States, has joined the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Gore was elected at Apple's board meeting today.

I'm watching this week's American Idol nearly a day late. Before I begin I'd like to point out that even David Hyatt likes Clay! Go Clay. 🙂

Ryan egging on the audience to boo? Childish. The shots of Randy? Classic good stuff. Funny funny funny. Oh well. Guest starring this week? Gladys Knight - good stuff. 5 Grammys? Unfortunately that ain't that many. People are picking that many up each year these days. Hopefully she'll be a little more critical than last week's judge. I'll skip the cheesy "a look into Gladys."

By jove, I agree! The trick, then, might be to find a gal who is as geeky (or will be some day) as you are. Ah, yes, the trick indeed. I'll let y'all know how that turns out…

Note to self: grow some damn balls man. Just do it. It doesn't matter if it's in the middle of a sentence, or if the time doesn't seem exactly right, because it may never be, but just do it. The next time you get a chance, do it. And don't ask first, because although it may seem corny or cheesy in an endearing way, it probably isn't. Work up the nerve - you've got a few days - and do it, ya dumbass.

Update: be glad you didn't do it. In this case, no move was the best move, I think.

I had another dream last night, and since I'm documenting them here on this diary journal blog, well, here goes. I had the dream at about 2am (I've heard that most dreams are "realtime") and woke up at about 3am. As such, it's now 8am and I may not remember as much as I did at 3, but I wasn't about to get out of bed just for this. I needed my sleep last night.

I spent time ostensibly helping someone with some physics last night. She's got a test coming up very shortly, and though it was intro physics, and though I'd spent no less than four solid years studying physics, some of the intro stuff took some time to come back to me. Four, sometimes even five seconds elapsed before I could recall that r_f = r_i + v_it + 1/2at². 🙂 I say ostensibly simply because she kept thanking me, and really, I was the one who felt I should be thanking her for getting to spend more time with her. Being able to help, hopefully, was icing.

When I wrote about TypeIt4Me the other day I didn't realize I'd not yet written about LaunchBar except in passing, so here's a post dedicated to LaunchBar.

This Tidbits review summarizes what I could say quite nicely, and TypeIt4Me and LaunchBar form such a killer duo that I couldn't imagine life without them. In fact, whenever I'm using someone else's machine for more than two minutes, I invariably find myself hitting cmd-space.

Apps that you can barely imagine living without - that's good software.

P.S. Credit to Jeff for making me give it a try. I was a tad hesitant back in the days of Mac OS X 10.0.

Je parle français. I'm sitting here eating French bread, doing work, and thinking about french kissing. Why? Cuz I'm eating French bread and I'll be damned if I'm going to go around "freedom kissing" or eating "freedom bread." As to why I capitalize French in bread but not in kissing, I don't know. Incidentally, one of the first sites (1996) I ever really put any effort into (it doesn't show, believe me) is still online. Guess what? It's about my trip to France.

Very tempting. Let's just say I've put this on a bookmark list that I review very very frequently… Has anyone done this? I really doubt it. I should try to cut back, instead. It can't be good for me. But still, very very tempting.

I agree with Pierre and not with Charles. I never read AppleLust, and thanks to Charles Moore, I won't. Those two pages will be the last I shall visit for the foreseeable future.

Why? A cogent response is found here. I've said numerous times on this site that I'm fairly non-political or apolitical, and frankly, I want my "Mac" sites to remain that way as well. Get a blog, Moore. Don't hijack a Mac site.

From 37 Signals I found a story about Bobby Knight turning down his $250,000 salary for failure to perform:

"I'm just not at all satisfied with what transpired with our team in terms of our fundamental execution," Knight told The Dallas Morning News for its online edition." I don't think it's anybody's fault but mine. You heard me talk after games all season long about missed opportunities and how we didn't see things. Those are things that have got to be taught. Learning those things is just as much a responsibility of the teacher as the ones learning those things," he was quoted as saying.

He may be a bit aggressive, but I can side with the guy a little. He's passionate and he has high standards. I've never choked anyone, but I sometimes beat myself up quite a bit when I don't live up to my own high standards. I can see making a point of refusing $250,000 if I had a few million in the bank.
