Question: How many Dashboard Widgets do you have?
My Answer: 14 standard widgets in /Library/Widgets and an additional 10 in ~/Library/Widgets (Air Traffic Control, DaisyTracker, Delicious Library [which still doesn't work], DoppleViewer, Golf Tips, Package Tracker, Self Defense Counter, Stats for AdSense, TV Tracker, Type Cast).
I don't necessarily like all of the third-party ones, but I'll wait for 10.4.2 before I get heavily into managing them.

Question: What headphones do you use with your iPod?
My Answer: I use the stock ones, but then again, I rarely use the ear buds or headphones. I have some $300 noise-cancelling headphones (Sony) downstairs in a bag somewhere, and when I'm on a plane or a train I'll take those instead.

July 16 is the 95% certainty date for our (Carey + Me) wedding reception/housewarming cookout. If the weather's bad, July 17 will work too. They're Saturday and Sunday, and ideally I'll be taking whomever wants to go golfing on Sunday to Lake View for some golf. I expect that the list will be short - my uncle and maybe a cousin - but who knows?
So, José, Arion, Seth, Ron, Gabe, Rob, and Eric - mark your calendars.

I know that Recent Tunes is a bit broken on Tiger. The problem has been isolated, and a new version should be out relatively soon. Freshly Squeezed Software has been considering turning this application into an inexpensive utility. The obvious downside is that it would no longer be freeware, but the upside is that it would become officially supported and we'd add new features to make it worth purchasing. Since even this update costs us valuable development time, we need to justify the effort we put into making updates, while at the same time we also want to make sure that every application we sell meets people's needs as well as posible. With that in mind, I'd like to know how people are using Recent Tunes.
What parts of Recent Tunes do you think could be more streamlined, to make it more useful for you? What additional things do you wish it could do? What would an enhanced Recent Tunes be worth to you?

I've been reading Longitudes and Attitudes (by Thomas Friedman, link goes to BN). I'm quickly getting bored with it - the pre-9/11 pieces were interesting in a "look back" fashion. The post-9/11 articles were good at first, but border on being repetitive and tedious at this point. The same themes, the same thoughts, the same coined phrases and so on. I wouldn't expect anything less from Friedman - he's one guy, and he's got his opinions. They're insightful, thought-provoking, and well-founded.
I just don't need to hear them 20 times in a row.

Among the dumbest things I've heard today, in Adium:
"Ha ha, now you will get viruses too you piece of shit Mac user! Enjoy your crappy Mac OS X on Intel, fool!"
Steve Jobs could probably sell freezers to eskimos. Unfortunately, the average eskimo IQ is probably sixty points higher than the average "PC d00d." 😛

Question: What sports do you currently play?
My Answer: Golf. Softball. Bike riding (hardly a sport, but I'll take what I can get). That's about it. I hope to find someone for some raquetball matches, but right now life's a bit too hectic to worry about that.

Carey and I, at this point, are semi moved in. The fact that I've got Internet access once again will slow my progress down, but I'm pretty close to done. More so than I was yesterday and the day before, that is, and about half of my stuff is in the garage. Speaking of which, why, it sure will be nice to use the garage for my car, soon!

Question: Is persuasion dead?
My Answer: Based on a recent NYT column, this question is. Talking like Yoda, I am. Anyway, my answer is that on a large scale, I think that persuasion is largely dead. Then again, I'm not ever sure it was ever alive. Politics doesn't persuade anyone anymore, and Steve Jobs has an uphill battle convincing the hard-core Mac crowd that the PowerPC is bad and that the x86 is good.
But small scale? It's still out there. Persuasive people get promoted, get jobs, and get what they want out of life. Persuasive people get the bed sheets they want when their wife wants different ones (though compromise plays a big part here as well). Persuasive people are leaders, not followers.

Something occurred to me today that I haven't seen talked about everywhere: Windows emulation on Mac OS X won't be "emulation" anymore. Sure, Microsoft or whomever makes a Windows "emulator" might throw Windows into its very own "environment" ("Wininwindows," anyone? - it makes sense to keep the taskbar and the dock separate), but with an Intel chip inside each Mac, "emulation" isn't "emulation" when they're running the same processor!
That all translates into one thing: Windows: the new Classic.

My HP LaserJet 1320 is failing to print. I print, and shortly after the job spools the print queue is stopped. When I log into CUPS (http://localhost:631/) it displays this error text:
"The process "usb" stopped unexpectedly with status 233"
I clean installed 10.4 onto another partition and it printed fine (with all of my data copied over). I printed from 10.4.1 with the latest updates on the PowerBook and it printed fine. Then I updated the second partition to 10.4.1, QuickTime 7, and installed USB Overdrive and the error returned. Removing USB Overdrive (the only major difference between the desktop and the PowerBook) didn't solve the problem.
I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm going to be in re-installation hell until I can figure it out. The printer was previously hooked into the AirPort base station, but that's on the other side of the room from where I'd like the printer currently, so reverting really isn't a valid option.

The new house is good (more on this in the coming days and weeks, I'm sure). I am wondering, though, if there are any simple, small wireless webcams that perhaps have a microphone. I'm looking to use it for a baby monitor of sorts so that we can hear one bedroom from every part of the house. However, every part of the house is saturated with wireless Internet coverage.
Has anyone done this? If so, how'd it work out? What recommendations do you have?

Question: Do you agree or disagree with Apple's decision to move to Intel?
My Answer: It's too early for me to tell, as I've not read much about it, but I'm curious what y'all might have to say.

What the heck? I'm offline for three days and Apple moves to Intel? What in tarnation is going on around here?!?
Obviously I still have some reading to do on the whole situation (and I may not get to it until next week, as I'm still moving in - so any pointers to some quick overviews would be nice), but at least my concerns are only as a user at this point.

Question: How many minutes, on average, do you rack up on your cell phone in an average month?
My Answer: Anywhere between 1,000 and 1,500 or so all by myself. Carey and I have a joint plan now and are getting a home phone with local only service so that calling our parents, toll-free numbers, and so forth doesn't push us over the 900 minute limit we have (with free calling to each other, of course).
