Question: What do you think of Khoi's idea?
My Answer: I like it. I've definitely scrolled way past the intended song or album. I also find it annoying that when I look at one artist's songs, they're not alphabetized, but are listed by album. R.E.M. has a few hundred songs - I'd like to find the right one quickly, not try to remember what year the album it's on came out relative to the others.

I just bough tickets to the Memorial Tournament, which takes place in Columbus, OH from May 30-June 5 (actual tournament play is June 2-5).
The Memorial Tournament is hosted at Muirfield Village Golf Club and always courts a strong field. Ernie Els will defend his Title, and Fred Couples and Tiger Woods rounded out the top three last year.
I got two weeklong passes. Carey and I should be able to go to a round or two, and I hope to stay with my friend Seth in Columbus (I left him a voicemail). My first PGA Tour event... yay.

Waiting awhile before purchasing a digital camera was a very smart thing to do. Bummer for my Nikon pal who told me to do it, because it's Canon that's leapt to the forefront. I'm geeking out today.

I got my iPod shuffle today. In the first hour with it:
- Thanks, José, for setting the volume to the loudest setting. I shall get you yet! 😀
- It's small, it's light. Duh.
- I wish the slider on the back had a little notch for extra traction.
- USB 2.0 is so slow I double-checked to make sure the front ports on a G5 were USB 2.0! Ugh!
- I'm not sure yet what to do about "Keep this iPod in the source list."
- I sure wish I had a little belt clip. Then again, maybe masking tape will work just fine.
- Instead of having colored lights, couldn't they have had different icons with lights next to them?
- How will I ever choose only ~200 songs? A creative smart list is coming soon…
Whatever. The only reason I wanted the thing is so that I can listen to some music while hitting golf balls. It'll work just fine for that.

Okay, I don't normally blog about the weather, but yesterday it was 55 and almost all the snow in Erie had melted, save for a few previously huge piles in parking lots. I walked around in a short-sleeved shirt.
Today, as of 10:30am, my car has four inches of snow on it and it's still coming down. Friggin' Erie.
That having been said, this winter has been nothing but mild. Of course, that probably means we'll still have snow in May, but I'll take what we've had so far.

My Canon S900 has, increasingly so over the past few months, printed like shit. I've cleaned the print heads and yet it simply refuses to dispense ink or thread paper properly. You can't even read 14-point text as whole letters and streaks of lines are missing.
I almost never, ever print color. Is it time to get a laser printer? The endless supply of $99 inkjets with $30 black ink cartridges gets old.
I have very few requirements:
- Need to be able to share it via AirPort
- Needs to print black and white only. No color required.
- Needs to work with 10.3.8 relatively smoothly.
- Needs to cost, hopefully, $300 or less (maybe $400 if it's a good low-end laser printer).
What printer do you recommend?

Question: How long is your daily commute (in miles and minutes)?
My Answer: Miles = 0.0028 (15/5280), Minutes = 0.05 (3/60). 😀

I've decided to wait a month or two before I make any decisions about the 20D or the D70. PMA 2005 kicks off next week, and I know enough about trade shows to wait for price drops, new product announcements, etc.
I went to a local camera store today, and the gentleman who assisted me pushed me firmly (but politely and without the "hard sell") towards the D70. A friend of mine, whose opinion I value above any other, strongly feels that Canon equipment is best. Thing is: there's no way I'm spending the $2k I'd have to spend on the 20D and a good starter lens.
So, here's to waiting a month or two, and taking the venerable CoolPix 995 with me to North Carolina next Friday.
P.S. Nikon's $200 rebate runs through March 31, 2005.

One goshdarn Coke today at 3pm and I'm still up. At least I didn't get a headache this time. I gave up Coke a while ago, and I don't miss it. Every time I had it after quitting cold turkey for a few months, I'd get massive headaches. I used to be able to drink the stuff at midnight and go to bed at 12:15. Now, 12 hours later, here I am, typing away and not really very tired.
Nutty stuff, man.
I've been drinking this "Caffeine Free, Calorie Free, Sodium Free" "Clear American" sparkling flavored beverage ($0.50 from Wal-Mart for 1 liter bottles). Black cherry is the best. Ingredients: carbonated water, natural flavor, citric acid, potassium citrate, and potassium benzoate. Probably still not the best for me, but a giant step in the right direction.

This article in Wired reminded me of the many celebrities I met while working in a few Apple stores in south Florida.
Shaquille O'Neal wandered around the mall quite a few times. Of course, he's now a member of the Miami Heat, but he was still a Laker for many of his jaunts around the store. Celebrities like Florida - they make a lot of money and Florida doesn't have state income tax. Nor does Texas. Y'know, those Bush states…

The Sand Trap.com needs a logo. I'm considering having a design contest - they've worked out well in the past. Ideally, whomever creates a logo would also be able to send it in Illustrator, so that I can quickly make a business card and run to Kinko's to get some cards printed.
So, here's the deal: we need a logo for the site and business cards. The winning entry will get $100 or a 512 MB iPod shuffle. Submit entries by midnight ET on February 18 (short notice, I know).

Though eventual Bloglines integration is planned for PulpFiction, those wishing to get a head start on the whole thing should check out Bloglines in PulpFiction Newsreader. An XSL file marries PulpFiction to bloglines, and full instructions are included. Check it out!

Question: Is there any more contrived a holiday than Valentine's Day?
My Answer: Christmas is close, only because it's been so bastardized into the savior of all retailers and the bane of all who prefer to give meaningful gifts throughout the year, but I'd have to say that VD takes the cake (or the chalky, bad-tasting candy heart, in this case). VD, hmm…

My next wish for ecto: the ability to print nicely! As I continue to work on a group blog at The Sand Trap .com, my needs for printing the preview window (which I've customized to look just like the site) increase daily.
Sending raw HTML to people is a bit rough. I've resorted to taking screenshots of the preview window and stitching them together in Photoshop just to get some nice previews to send to companies, the other site's authors, etc.
Right now, ecto's printing capabilities are bad. I have faith that we'll see a change, though, so this post is in the spirit of suggestion, not to harp or nitpick.

My 1 GB iPod shuffle is on its way. Someone owed me a few bucks, so instead of asking for the money, I asked for an iPod shuffle. And kicked in an extra $40 to get the 1 GB model.
Should come in handy when I go to the golf dome and hit balls during the winter. Especially since the battery in my 30 GB iPod is toast. But I knew it would be - I left it plugged in to my car the entire time I lived in FL.
